Blame it on the slew of celebrities like Bruno Mars, Joe Jonas and Zac Efron with their uber cool hair - these stylish stars are seriously putting men’s hair in the spotlight. Up your cool factor with these cult hair brands that are far from just pushing hair gel; they’re making waves for all the right reasons.

The brand: Hanz de Fuko

Need to know: If it’s good enough for David Beckham, then it’s good enough for us. Not only has the Brit sung his praises for the brand, but Hanz de Fuko also push innovation and steer away from traditional formulations. And before you try and find out more about the Japanese-German name, it’s completely made up – but done so to reflect the diverse ethnic background of the founders Christopher Zent and David Alfonso.

Cult favourite: Claymation may be Beckham’s weapon of choice, but it’s their high-hold Gravity Paste that is making us swoon. As it only works when the formula is warmed up, scoop out a pea-sized amount and move it around your palm before using your fingers to press it into specific areas for a mussed-up look.

The brand: R+Co

Need to know: You’ll never put a hair out of place again with this uber cool, niche brand just for men. Founded by three leading hairstylists (Garren, Thom Priano and Howard McLaren), R+Co not only offers a comprehensive range of shampoos, conditioners, styling creams and mousses, but every single formula is made without parabens, sulfates, mineral oil and petrolatum, so they’re much friendlier to your scalp. Their packaging is second to none as well - each bottle or tube is coated with a luxurious smooth finish, and paired with a whimsical photograph that is sure to bring a bathroom to life.

Cult favourite: Their unique Badlands Dry Shampoo Paste, which is a dry shampoo meets styling paste formula that will add a casual oomph to flat-looking hair without looking overdone.

The brand: Uppercut Deluxe

Need to know: Take your quiff to the next level with Uppercut’s range of styling products that are small enough to take on a trip with you anywhere, even to the office. Inspired by traditional barbershop techniques, this brand was established by Australian snippers Luke Newman and Steve Purcell, and covers all styling, washing and shaving bases. You’ll even find a zesty woody scent in their range, handcrafted and made only in small batches.

Cult favourite: Their classic pomade is the most praised for a good reason - it can be used to add second-day texture to clean hair, the finish is natural and semi-matte (you won’t find shiny hard gel here) and it’ll last you ages. Be warned though, as a little goes a long way.
