3 steps to get super shiny hair

3 Ways To Get Super Shiny Hair (We’re Talking Next-Level Shine!)

The effect is so captivating, it’s almost unbelievable

Beauty Crew Beauty Editor / March 13 2019

Our newest obsession off the back of the international Autumn/Winter 2019 shows is super shiny hair, as seen on the Dolce & Gabbana show. And we’re not talking about locks that just look healthy when it catches the sunlight; we’re talking high-wattage shine and sparkling tresses with mega impact that look hyperreal, like you’re living behind a real life Kira Kira filter. Get in on the ultra-polished hair trend by following these three steps.

1

Start with a shampoo

Achieving super shiny hair starts in the shower. For those with lightened hair, Kérastase Blond Absolu Bain Lumiére works a treat - micelles inside the illuminating shampoo can effectively lift dirt and grime without weighing hair down, whilst argan oil and coconut oil works to boost shine and increase manageability. Darker hair types should opt for something like John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Colour Protecting Moisturising Shampoo, which helps increase colour intensity in brown hair while upping luminosity.

2

Follow through with a mask

An intensely-nourishing mask, such as Christophe Robin Regenerating Mask with Prickly Pear Oil, can not only soften your locks, but also smooth out your hair cuticle - a necessary step in upping how much shine bounces off your hair. Hairstylist John Pulitano of Headcase Hair speaks highly of this product: “This repair mask contains refined ingredients that actually go into your hair shaft to improve the quality of it, from the inside out. Not only does it add shine to any hair type instantly, it is also lightweight in texture and won’t weigh your hair down.”

3

Finish with a styling spray

A finishing spray is where you can really take your shiny hair look to the next level. Something like L'Oreal Professionnel Tecni Art Ring Light Pure Spray can really pump up the reflective properties of your locks after you’ve styled it. “This is L’Oréal’s first micro-dispersed professional high-shine spray for a light yet gleamy effect,” explains L'Oréal Professionnel's Guest Artist, Jordan Hone of Sloans. “It is the perfect product as it helps to smooth away any fly-aways, leaving the hair looking ultra shiny and glossy. The great thing about this product is that it leaves no residue and can be used over and over without leaving your locks feeling sticky or heavy.”
