Gigi Hadid’s go-to pimple treatment only costs $3!

Who knew you could get model skin for such a bargain?

You would be forgiven for thinking that Gigi Hadid might have a lengthy and complicated skin care routine, featuring a slew of expensive products and regular trips to the dermatologist.

But it turns out that the supermodel and face of Tommy Hilfiger fragrance, Tommy Girl actually hates facials. Instead, Gigi revealed in an interview with Vogue that she relies on a hack passed down to her from her mum to help get rid of unexpected breakouts.

The beauty hack involves applying toothpaste to stubborn pimples in an attempt to dry them out. Gigi says she applies toothpaste on the pimple “at night before I go to sleep. Then I take a small piece of toilet paper, get it wet, put it on my finger and press it over the top and peel the excess paper off around my finger.” The next morning she simply places a wet towel over the pimple to wipe away the paper and toothpaste.

While it may sound like a quick and inexpensive hack worth trying, toothpaste hasn’t been specifically formulated for treating spots so there’s a chance it could dry skin out too much and cause skin irritation.

If you’re looking for a gentler spot treatment formulated specifically to treat pimples and breakouts, try Kiehl’s Blue Herbal Spot Treatment, Dermalogica Clear Start Breakout Clearing Emergency Spot Fix or Estée Lauder Clear Difference Targeted Blemish Treatment. Perhaps nowhere near as budget-friendly as a tube of toothpaste, but you know you'll be doing right by your skin.
