Mischa Barton’s Cannes comeback

Marissa Cooper would definitely be impressed

Back in the day, circa the early-2000s, Mischa Barton was the epitome of natural, radiant beauty goals. But then, she kind of fell off the radar, and her red carpet appearances didn't quite hit the mark.

The svelte, stylish and polished star we knew and loved from The OC disappeared, and a slightly puffy and dishevelled female stood in her place.

But she’s back. Big time.

Yes, the elegant and impeccably groomed Mischa Barton has officially returned to us. The 30-year-old recently took to the 2016 Cannes Film Festival red carpet at the premiere of Loving, showing off her slender physique in a stunning sheer and embellish black gown by Georges Hobeika.

However, it’s not the frock we’re most delighted with - it’s her eye makeup that’s caused all the excitement. Mischa’s striking slate blue eyes are positively popping thanks to a mix of black liquid eyeliner, sparkly silver eyeshadow and lash lengthening mascara.

By lining both the upper and lower waterline and taking the eyeshadow around her entire eye, the black and silver hues have mixed slightly to create a smouldering charcoal-like finish. It’s eye makeup trickery at its best.

Smartly, Mischa has kept the rest of her look subtle, only lightly contouring her cheeks and enhancing the natural colour of her pout using a neutral coloured, high sheen lip colour.

Cherie is somewhat of a digital dinosaur, having kick-started her beauty writing career back in 2009 at PRIMPED alongside industry expert Zoë Foster Blake. Since then, her words have appeared online and on paper for BEAUTYcrew, POPSUGAR, beautyheaven, New Idea, and Fitness First, while her marketing know-how has helped brands such as L'Oréal Paris, The Body Shop, A’kin, and Dr. LeWinn’s add a journalistic flair to their digital content. She is a vocal advocate for (physical) sunscreen, is rather fond of a bold lip, and is utterly terrible at styling hair.
