Sure, the international Haute Couture shows may be best known for their sophisticated fashion designs, long flowing gowns and larger-than-life accessories, but the hair and makeup looks can be surprisingly wearable, too; we’re talking flowing hair, winged eyeliner, dewy skin, and more. Here are our favourite beauty looks from the most recent Haute Couture Spring 2017 shows that are sure to serve as inspiration for the seasons ahead.
The beauty look at Elie Saab was equal parts romantic and pretty. To show off large-scale earrings and an intricate neckline, tuck your hair behind your ears and smooth fly-aways down with a finishing creme. As for your makeup, try a classic black feline flick, and pare it back with a nude lippie.
Pretty up your ponytail by separating your hair into one large middle section and two smaller sections on each side.Secure them individually and then together with gold elastic bands. It’s an elegant yet simple way to make a statement, without investing in a showstopping hair accessory.
Orange, rust and copper tones were seen on the runway fashion at Armani Prive, and that’s exactly what was used for the beauty look, too. At home, recreate the makeup with a soft orange eyeshadow blended over the eyelids and cheeks.
Got good brows? Show them off by copying this bold beauty look from Givenchy’s show by first colouring in any gaps with a dark powder (an eyeshadow works well in this case), then use a coloured gel to set your hairs in place.
At Chanel, models had their complexions perfected with a velvet base, their lips covered in a deep berry hue, and a smattering of silver glitter dusted across the eyes for a more playful effect.
Jean Paul Gaultier
It looks like the fishtail braid is here to stay! At Jean Paul Gaultier’s show, hair was braided with hair extensions for length and thickness, before random sections were loosened by hand to amplify the texture and create a more laid-back vibe.
Softly luminous skin? Check. Barely-there lips? Got it. This is a makeup look we can get behind, and it’s a cinch to master at home. Don’t forget to groom brows with a clear gel - it will help frame your face.
