10 best beauty looks that stole our heart in 2018

Having just been dubbed Pantone’s latest colour of the year, you can expect coral makeup to surge in popularity in 2019. It would seem that Taylor Hill and her makeup artist Hung Vanngo were ahead of the curve as the model debuted this stunning look at the 2018 Vanity Fair Oscars Party in March. The addition of a soft-yet-exaggerated winged liner cemented this makeup look as one of our favourites.

Jennifer Garner’s combination of voluminous side-swept hair, cobalt blue eyeshadow, lined eyes and glowing skin at the Oscars had us picking our jaws off the floor. Her stunning look managed to strike the perfect balance between subtle and dramatic and we couldn’t love it more if we tried.

While Romee Strijd would still look like an angel without a scrap of makeup on, her makeup look at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show – which was created by Charlotte Tilbury – took our breath away. Everything from the glossy lip to her fluffy brows and sparkling eyes were all heavenly!

While we’ll admit Kaia Gerber’s hair at the Maison Valentino Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2018/19 Show at Paris Fashion Week isn’t the most wearable, it certainly makes a statement. There’s no doubt that pink makeup experienced a renaissance in 2018 and Rihanna was one of the celebrities who perfected the feminine look the best. While the pop of colour on her lips packed a punch, our favourite thing about her monotone look was the radiant wash of pink highlighter across her cheeks.

Move over glitter because in 2018 there was a new way to add sparkle to our eye makeup and it involved using the humble sticker. We love how effortlessly feminine this makeup look is on 13 Reasons Why actress Katherine Langford, without looking overly girly.

While many of us are hesitant to go nuts with blue or purple eyeshadows, Priyanka Chopra and her makeup artist Pati Dubroff proved just how versatile the shades can be. And although we’re obsessed with her mermaid-esque eyeshadow, the addition of purple mascara on Priyanka’s lower lashes is what made us fall completely in love with this look. 

If there’s one celebrity who’s looked flawless at every single red carpet event this year, it’s Margot Robbie. As such, it was almost impossible to choose a favourite look of hers. But after much deliberation, this look from the Critics’ Choice Awards took out the top spot. The thick liner look, the glossy lip and oh-so-chic hair ribbon all screamed sophistication.    

Despite 2018 seeing a rise in colourful and dramatic beauty looks, Meghan Markle’s signature glowing and natural makeup looks were undoubtedly a standout. We have a feeling brides across the globe will be trying to recreate the new Duchess of Sussex’s makeup on their own wedding days for years to come.
