The simple product swap that will make your hair shinier

The Hair Brush You Need To Use If You Want Shiny Hair - Kourtney Kardashian

According to Kourtney Kardashian’s go-to hairstylist

There are a lot of different hair brushes out there. And chances are, you didn’t put a lot of thought into the one that you use. Maybe you liked the price of that paddle brush with those synthetic bristles, or were lured in by the detangling abilities of your Tangle Teezer? Both are fair reasons for selecting the tool you brush your hair with every day.

But...it turns out you may be sabotaging your hair’s shine potential.

According to Kourtney Kardashian’s hairstylist Andrew Fitzsimons, who shared this tip on Kourt’s lifestyle website Poosh, something as simple as using a round boar-bristle brush can help make your hair shinier.

So why this type of hair brush specifically? Because boar bristles pick up the natural oils in your hair and distributes them evenly from root to tip.

And you know what comes from coating your hair in its natural oils? Oh, the benefits! They nourish your hair so it’s less dry and damaged; you’ll experience less frizz; you won’t need to use as many hair products (like leave-in treatments and shine serums); and you’ll get less oil build-up on your scalp (did you know too much oil on your scalp causes dandruff?). When all these good things are going on at once, healthy, shiny hair happens.

Three brushes to try: evo bruce 28 natural boar bristle brush; Optima Professional Round Reinforced Boar Bristle Brush; Curious Grace Boar Ceramic Round Brush

Well, there you go. Here we were saving our round bristle brush for blow-drying only. Consider us converted. Because let’s be honest, Kourtney has some of the shiniest hair in the biz, so clearly she and Fitzsimons know what’s up.

They also both swear by this DIY hair mask.

What’s your secret to shiny hair? What kind of hair brush do you use?
