The effortless Paris Fashion Week makeup trends we plan on wearing IRL

Paris Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2019

And you only need one product to get each look

As the final destination of the month-long fashion week extravaganza, Paris Fashion Week is usually known for saving the best for last, and it’s a time that we eagerly wait with bated breath to see each look come down the runway. What shocked us the most about this year’s makeup looks was its wearable approach. We’re talking super easy looks you can *actually* achieve at home that only require one product to get the look. Here are three of our favourite makeup trends from Paris Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2019.

For cheeks: A pop of pink

Similar to what you’d see in an impressionist portrait by Renoir, this season saw models from Balmain, CHANEL and Agnès B sporting rosy cheeks in a light pink colour that looked so believable you’d be forgiven for thinking the girls had rushed onto the runway with any makeup on their faces.

Get the look: Forget layering several products on top of each other to build colour; instead, use the warmth of your finger to blend a creamy blush (such as Maybelline New York Dream Matte Blush in Pink Sand) over the apples of your cheeks. The key to achieving this natural beauty look is a less-is-more approach; use only a tiny amount at a time to avoid overloading your skin with pigment.

For eyes: Smudged shadow

French beauty is renowned for being pared-back and effortless, like you’ve barely spent any time putting your makeup on. This smoky shadow is the perfect balance of looking ‘done’ without actually being meticulous with your application. Plus, this is a great way to rock a smoky eye when you’ve literally only got a few minutes to get ready.

Altuzarra

Hermès

Get the look: Emulate this cool-girl trend by first tracing your top and bottom lash line with an eyeshadow crayon (like Zoeva Heritage Eye Crayon in Morphology), then colouring in your eyelid with the same colour. To finish, use a clean blending brush in small, circular motions over the entire area to soften the edges. It’s as easy as that.

For lips: Barely-there colour

It doesn’t get any more wearable than this. This year, Paris Fashion Week featured models with a lack of lippie. We’re talking no colour at all, just a heavy hit of balm to highlight the natural pinkness of the models’ lips. If the French are doing in, we want in, too.

Isabel Marant

Jacquemus

Sacai

Get the look: The trick to pulling off this look is to pack on a thick yet ultra-nourishing balm (like La Mer The Lip Balm) to protect your lips from the wintery weather ahead while also achieving a flawlessly smooth surface.
