It sure has been a busy time here at Beauty Crew HQ - we’ve been swatching and swiping up a frenzy to determine which products will make the cut for the best new launches of August. Without further ado… here are the best new skin care, makeup, fragrance and body care products to hit shelves this month.
Pat McGrath Sublime Perfection Foundation
In a time where there are an umteenth number of foundations on the market that offer everything from sheer to full coverage and a radiant to matte finish, it’s become increasingly hard for brands to stand out with their new additions. Not for Pat McGrath; her first foundation, the Sublime Perfection Foundation, is *so* good that it definitely deserves a spot in this gallery. The incredibly airy foundation feels just like a serum (well, it kind of is given it’s packed with ingredients like hyaluronic acid and ceramides), and is so silky you may mistake it for having a sheer coverage, when in fact it can be built up to full coverage. Plus, special diamond core powder technology helps blur fine lines and enlarged pores, ensuring your complexion looks magically airbrushed, all day long.
Lancȏme Advanced Genifique
When it comes to iconic anti-ageing serums, you can’t go past Lancȏme Advanced Genifique, which offers protective and reparative powers in a single application. This month, the brand is celebrating its 10-year anniversary with an update to its formulation: there are now seven prebiotic and probiotic ingredients in it that work towards giving you a smoother, firmer and more radiant complexion. We’re sold!
Premedy Daily Probiotic 15
Speaking of probiotics, Premedy Daily Probiotic 15 is a daily dose of healthy bacteria for your insides. To be precise, there are 15 strains of probiotics in each capsule, and together they support healthy bowel movements and support general health and wellbeing. Best of all, you can keep these beauty supplements by your desk (rather than in a fridge) to remind yourself to take one every day.
Pureology Wind Tossed Texture Finishing Spray
Hate that squeaky-clean feeling straight after washing your hair? You’re not alone, which is why Pureology launched the Wind Tossed Texture Finishing Spray. Mist the lightweight spritz to add just a little bit of texture and shine without any feelings of stickiness. “Shake it well and spray it into your hair like you would with a hairspray to create a soft, undone look,” explains Chad Wijayatilake, Pureology ambassador. “It’s perfect for all hair types, and is especially great for fine hair to boost volume.”
Dyson Supersonic hair dryer
Here we were thinking the Dyson Supersonic couldn’t get any better. But now, the coveted device comes with additional attachments that improve its versatility for all hair types, including a wide-tooth comb for curly hair, a gentle air dryer for fine hair, a re-engineered diffuser to reduce frizz, and a re-engineered styling concentrator for blow-drying small sections.
Jurlique Moisture Plus Rare Rose Gel Cream
Besides smelling *really* good, roses can actually nourish your skin, too. Take Jurlique Moisture Plus Rare Rose Gel Cream for example; the smoothing gel formula works wonders on normal and combination skin types, and can keep skin hydrated for up to 24 hours. Pop this on in the morning before foundation to plump up skin and prevent shininess (psst… the addition of mastic gum can also prevent oiliness in areas like your T-zone).
Rationale Catalyst Milk Concentrate
Rationale isn’t a brand that brings out many new products in a year, and for that reason, when something *does* land in stores, you know it’s a product that’s been worth the wait. The Catalyst Milk Concentrate is a hardworking serum that aims to reduce redness and calm skin. “Over the years, I have worked with many clients who manifest the effects of alkaline skin, including redness, dryness and a lack of brilliance,” says Richard Parker, Founder and Director of Rationale Research. “Catalyst Milk Concentrate imparts a precious reawakening of luminosity and renewal for sensitive, reactive skin.” For those that already own the Essential Six routine from Rationale, layer this serum as your fifth step before your moisturiser.
SEB MAN Reworkable Liquid Gel
If your other half has hair that needs styling in general, listen up… Sebastian Professional has launched a men’s grooming sub-brand called SEB MAN, and we’re totally captivated by its interesting formulas. Take the Reworkable Liquid Gel: it’s a liquid wax gel that sets styles for up to 24 hours - now that’s seriously strong. “I am very much a ‘less is more’ kind of guy, and the SEB MAN Reworkable Gel is a one-hit wonder that is zero fuss,” says Aiden Xydis, SEB MAN Global Creative Artist. “It works on all [hair] lengths, however I have seen it at its best on longer hair (like mine) that is often worn up. It keeps a man-bun neat and reduces fly-aways.” For those with shorter hair, “apply a small amount to the hands and work through the lengths with your fingertips,” continues Xydis. As for longer lengths, “cover the palms with an even amount of liquid gel, and run through the hair as you style it up. For a longer-lasting ‘gloss’ look, apply to the hair when wet.”
Aceology Green T. Infusion Gel Mask
Looking to try a new mask this month? Make it the Aceology Green T. Infusion Gel Mask, which is loaded with green tea and evening primrose to detoxify the skin. “If your skin is looking dry, red and dull from the cool winter weather, you need to get your mitts on Aceology’s new Green T Mask,” says Beauty Crew’s Beauty Writer, Erin Docherty. “It’s the perfect pick-me-up for instantly glowing, plump skin. Not only does it work to rejuvenate and revive tired skin, but it’ll actually stay on your face until you decide to take it off - which is surprisingly hard to find!”
Korres Blue Sage Fir Wood EDT
Captivating - both visually and olfactorily - the Korres Blue Sage Fir Wood EDT is an invigorating blend of zingy grapefruit and refreshing mint that’s paired with grounding geranium, sage, nutmeg, amber and vetiver. The end result is an aquatic spritz that works on men and women, and is just the thing to wear as the weather warms up.
ghd platinum+ ink on pink styler
If you’re in the market for a new hair straightener, make it the ghd platinum+ ink on pink styler this month. Aside from having the same powers as a regular ghd platinum+ tool (such as plates that heat up to 185 degrees and automatic sleep mode after 30 minutes of inactivity), the tool features a special print designed by Chicago-based mastectomy tattoo artist David Allen, and $20 from every ghd ink on pink limited edition styler sold will go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
If you’re someone that’s likely to burn themselves with a hair straightener, follow these six foolproof steps for treating a hot tool burn.
