If our beauty cupboard is anything to go by, it seems that almost 100 new skin care, makeup, hair and fragrance products launched this month alone… and we’re not going to lie, it was a serious challenge to narrow our list down to just 13 products. Here are our absolute favourites that we think you’ll love just as much as we do.
YSL Beauty Tatouage Couture
Besides its intense colour payoff, mattifying finish and wide shade range on offer, we’re obsessed with the clever chiselled wand that offers an incredibly precise application and allows you to really reach every corner of your lips. Red Tribe (left) is a beautiful true red that can instantly add ‘zing’ to your complexion, and Nude Emblem (right) is a great neutral colour for everyday wear. Available exclusively at Mecca from February 1, and available online at all other retailers from March 4.
Ellis Brooklyn Sci Fi Fragrance
The newest addition to the Ellis Brooklyn family, Sci Fi EDP may sound otherworldly, but it’s an incredibly wearable fragrance that is sure to invite compliments all round. It’s built on a base of smooth and creamy cashmere woods and vanilla beans, boosted with green tea and pink freesia, and is delicately layered with bergamot and bitter orange. We can’t stop sniffing this one.
Maybelline New York Brow Precise Fibre
We’re well-versed in the world of brow products (hello powders, gels, and pencils), but the newest product from Maybelline does more than just enhance the colour of your brows. In fact, the tiny fibres featured in the formula can seriously boost volume and fullness, especially in sparse-looking arches. Our editor Carli Alman explains further: “There is little in life I love more than a brow product that makes my life easier (while making my brows look better, of course). While the one-sided wand took some getting used to, once I got the hang of it I was on a one-way street to groomed, brushed-up brows that looked natural. I found when I used it on its own I got more of a natural result, and when I paired it with a brow pencil to fill in the gaps, my brows made much more of a statement.”
Jurlique Limited Edition Rose Body Oil
Jurlique’s undeniably addictive rose scent has been given a new outlet, and we’re so pleased to see it hit stores. The Limited Edition Rose Body Oil feels lightweight, is soaked up quickly and easily by thirsty skin, and leaves your body feeling luxuriously soft and supple.
Dior Capture Youth Matte Maximizer
With ingredients such as lactic acid, pink clay and zinc gluconate, Dior’s latest skin care innovation Capture Youth Matte Maximizer is ace at soaking up excess sebum on combination to oily skin types, minimising the appearance of pores and improving the overall texture of skin.
NIVEA Creme & Oil Pearls Shower Cream in Cherry Blossom
If you’ve always thought that showering was more a mundane task than a treat in itself, then it’s probably worth trying an indulgent shower gel that can seriously improve the overall experience. The new NIVEA Creme & Oil Pearls Shower Cream in Cherry Blossom is loaded with argan oil, vitamin E and smells just like a trip to a spa would.
Sportsgirl Illuminating Cleansing Oil
Sportsgirl’s first foray into the skin care category is a real winner in our eyes, with their Illuminating Cleansing Oil being our office’s firm favourite. It’s a silky formula that dissolves makeup and grime, and leaves your complexion looking brighter thanks to the tiny specks of glitter in its formula.
L’Oréal Paris Eye Paint Metals
Add a flash of colour to your eyes with a slick of metallic paint using L’Oréal Paris Eye Paint Metals. Available in three colours (Rude Boy is a rusty copper colour, Diamonds is a shimmery silver, and Take A Bow is a rich burgundy shade), they’re also easy to blend and can be used all over eyelids or just as an accent along your lash line.
Gucci Guilty Absolute Pour Femme
With notes like juicy blackberry, sweet Bulgarian rose and soothing goldenwood, how could you possibly resist? Gucci’s latest spritz for women - Guilty Absolute Pour Femme - is bursting with character: we foresee this one flying off shelves, so get in quick.
Rimmel London Blush Palette
Now you can match your blush to your mood or outfit with Rimmel London’s Blush Palette, which includes three medium to dark gold-flecked pink shades that warm up fair to medium skin tones. What we also love about this product is its versatility, as you can even swirl a small fluffy brush into the shades and apply it onto eyelids as an eyeshadow.
KORA Organics Noni Radiant Eye Oil
Address niggling fine lines, crow’s feet and tired-looking eyes with KORA Organics Noni Radiant Eye Oil - it’s loaded with coffee seed oil, tomato fruit extract, noni fruit extract and Kahai oil. Plus, it’s a newly developed product by Miranda Kerr herself, so you know it has to be good. “I wanted to develop an eye treatment and because of the success and results of the [KORA Organics] Noni Glow Oil, I loved the idea of developing an oil specifically designed for the delicate eye area.” says founder Miranda Kerr. What’s also really special about this product is that it features a rose quartz rollerball, which feels refreshing when applied to the skin, and has other therapeutic benefits: “Rose Quartz is one of my favourite gemstones because I believe in its healing and soothing properties. It’s also believed to carry a very gentle energy to encourage self-love, self-esteem and forgiveness. Rose quartz was also known to be used in the ancient Egyptian era for clearing the complexion and preventing wrinkles so I really wanted to ensure the applicator was unique but also effective in working with the formulation to deliver the best results possible,” Miranda adds.
Lancôme Advanced Génifique Hydrogel Melting Mask
Rich in bifidus probiotic to strengthen the skin’s protective barrier, Lancôme’s innovative new mask can also increase luminosity and re-energise the skin, all in 30 minutes. This product was recently sent to our Review Crew® team and has received glowing reviews so far. “On application, it immediately felt cool and refreshing [and] I could actually feel my skin soak up the product! After the 30 minutes I removed the mask and found [that] my skin looked brighter and had a fresh glow, it felt so soft and supple!,” says Review Crew® member Prashina.
Benefit Cosmetics BADgal Bang
Benefit Cosmetics left big shoes to fill with the hugely successful launches of They’re Real and Roller Lash mascaras, and their latest launch, BADgal Bang, definitely doesn’t disappoint. “This mascara is an absolute winner for me,” says our editor Carli Alman. “I’ve been using it for a few months and it’s been pretty consistent in defining, lifting and enhancing my lashes. I have found I get better curl when I curl my lashes first, but it still gives some curve without. Oh, and added bonus... it stands up pretty well after an ocean swim. Two thumbs up!”
