If you’re looking to preen your face, hair and body with new beauty products this month, you’ve come to the right place. Here are our must-have products that will be hitting shelves this month.
Penhaligon’s Belgravia Chypre EDP
Built on green and mossy layers of patchouli and bergamot and softened with touches of raspberry, pink pepper and rose, Penhaligon’s Belgravia Chypre EDP is a divine unisex concoction that pays homage to the quaint British neighbourhood of Belgravia. The chypre scent is perfect for those that crave something that’s different from the more common fruity or floral fragrances on the market. “Chypre comes from the French word for the Island of Cypress, where the key mossy damp note of oak moss was harvested for fragrance production,” says Michael Marzano, National Education Manager of Agence de Parfum. “As oak moss is now deemed photosensitising and is often related to respiratory tract infections, patchouli, [which has] a similar smoky, earthy, damp aroma, is used instead. The combination of cistus labdanum and patchouli lend [this fragrance] a smoky, damp, camphorous quality that distinguishes it an unmistakable mossy woods fragrance.” Psst… this limited edition fragrance has been forecasted to sell out, so be quick.
Skinceuticals Hyaluronic Acid Intensifier
We’re yet to meet a Skinceuticals serum we didn’t like. The new Skinceuticals Hyaluronic Acid Intensifier boasts a cocktail of hyaluronic acid to boost moisture, Pro-Xylane to support the structure of the skin and licorice root to target age spots (everything you’d want in an anti-ageing buy!). However we’re most impressed by the reasoning behind its launch: Skinceuticals originally released the product for injectable patients to use after their dermal fillers to improve results. Sign us up for plump and juicy skin.
Urban Decay Backtalk Palette
The Urban Decay Backtalk Palette had us fighting for ownership of this product in the office. Launched as a nod to the brand’s number one best-selling lipstick - Vice Lipstick in Backtalk - this double-decker palette features eyeshadow and blush powders in that exact shade, as well as other complementary rosy tones that you can use to mix and match to your heart’s content.
Hydropeptide Polypeptide Collagel+ Mask For Eyes
Made from durable hydrogel, the Hydropeptide Polypeptide Collagel+ Mask For Eyes is designed to increase hydration, encourage collagen production and soothe skin after aggressive skin treatments like laser. As they’re ultra-sticky, they really stay put on your skin for up to 20 minutes, meaning you can get on with anything else that takes your fancy, such as reading, cooking or watching TV.
Max Factor Miracle Contouring Palette
Now it’s easier than ever to customise your highlight and contour all year round with the Max Factor Miracle Contouring Palette. “The texture and colours of this pallette have made it my new on-set essential,” says Liz Kelsh, makeup artist and Max Factor Brand Ambassador. “The rich and creamy (but never greasy) texture of the colours blend effortlessly with foundation. I absolutely love the taupe contour shade, it’s my go-to for contouring cheeks as it never looks dirty or overdone, even in sunlight.”
CHANEL Les Eaux de Chanel in Paris Venise EDT
Delicate fragrances are taking over the perfume world, and CHANEL Les Eaux de Chanel in Paris Venise EDT fits this bill perfectly. Despite containing bold notes like citrus, berry, iris, geranium, cedar and amber, this scent is subtle yet memorable, and smells ‘clean’, like skin fresh from a warm shower.
L’Oréal Paris x Balmain Colour Riche
When we first heard about the L’Oréal Paris x Balmain collaboration last year, we knew we wanted every single lippie in the collection. Not only are they silky smooth (as all Colour Riche lipsticks are), but the colour payoff is just as intense as they appear in the campaign photos. As for our must-have favourite shades, if we can only name three they would be Confession, Fever, and Freedom, hands down.
Dermalogica BioLumin-C Serum
You can’t go past vitamin C as a top ingredient for brighter-looking skin. However, it’s not always easy for brands to put it in their products. “Vitamin C is a vulnerable ingredient to formulate with and often becomes unstable in a product as it is very sensitive, and on exposure to light it becomes oxidised and turns yellow in colour,” says Emma Hobson, Education Manager for the International Dermal Institute and Dermalogica. However, the Dermalogica BioLumin-C Serum features a formula that’s broken those barriers. “[This product] combines an ultra-stable vitamin C complex with advanced biotechnology to go beyond the skin’s surface to where it’s needed most in the dermis. As well as being an unstable ingredient, vitamin C can be difficult to deliver in a form that can penetrate the skin to truly protect, firm and brighten the skin. BioLumin-C solves both of these problems with its ultra-stable formula and superior bio-availability. Finally, it also stimulates the skin’s natural defense system so it can defend itself against oxidative stress.”
Cellulite-reducing treatments like the NuFace NuBody have come a long way as they can now be done in the comfort of your own home. This device makes it easy to firm up skin on your body (such as your bum and legs) as it can be used up to five times a week and takes as little as five minutes per treatment area. It feels like a comfortable massage all over and is almost pain-free - you’ll only feel a few zaps when you’re not using enough primer on the treatment area.
Innisfree Super Volcanic Clay Mousse Mask
Good news - one of Korea’s best-selling brands, Innisfree, is hitting Australian shores, so make sure you check out their first brick-and-mortar store in Melbourne. While you’re there, pick up one of their top sellers, the Super Volcanic Clay Mousse Mask, which contains tiny volcanic particles to soak up excess oils and de-gunk pores without stripping skin of moisture.
Eleven Australia I Want Body Volume Powder
Volume powders are a no-brainer when it comes to boosting body in hair, and the Eleven Australia I Want Body Volume Powder seriously lives up to the name. The ultra-fine powder melts into roots and hair upon contact, and is really gritty, which ensures your ‘do stays intact for longer. Plus, it’s perfect for all hair types - even coarser textures, which usually find volume powders don’t provide enough hold. Use the special pump dispenser to distribute the product into your hair and make sure you’re holding it at least 30 centimetres away to avoid overloading your locks.
From instant volume fixes to long-lasting density, follow this guide to add even more volume to your hair.
