The kitchen utensil that will give you envious lashes

The Bizarre Kitchen Utensil Hack For Curling Lashes

Any guess as to what it might be?!

Even if you’re not much of a cook, your kitchen can still be a source of immense joy - especially in the beauty department. First we learned that a sieve was the secret to styling your curly hair. And let’s not forget all the genius DIY recipes you can whip up with your pantry staples (such as Kourtney Kardashian’s shiny hair treatment and Jesinta Franklin’s homemade face mask). Now it seems all you need is a spoon to create eye-opening, flawlessly curled lashes.

This nifty hack comes courtesy of Dior’s makeup artist, Peter Philips. In an Instagram video he revealed how you can use a spoon to curl lashes. Or more specifically, a teaspoon.

Apparently it is perfect for really getting in right down to the root of your lashes, which is where every good curl should start.

Essentially Philip’s technique looks a lot like how you’d use a pair of scissors to curl ribbon. He faces the hollow of the spoon outwards, and places the edge of the spoon up against the root of the lashes in one section. Then he uses his fingers to push the lashes against the spoon’s edge before applying a little pressure and sliding the spoon from the roots to the tips of the lashes.

It’s hard to explain, but so simple to do. Here’s the how-to video:

TOP TIP: To give your curl more hold, we recommend trying to warm the spoon between your (clean) hands first. Don’t blast it with a hairdryer as you’ll make it too hot and risk burning your eyelids!

Now be careful. You don’t want to tug too hard or else you’ll start pulling out lashes, and that is the complete opposite of what you’re trying to do.

We know what you might be thinking, doesn’t a lash curler do the exact same thing? Why yes, it does. But a spoon is a whole lot cheaper, and you might actually find this technique easier to master than using a lash curler as it works in smaller sections, rather than trying to curl all your lashes at once. It’s great for getting into those hard-to-reach areas like the inner and outer corners.

If you want to know another genius beauty hack, here's how two ingredients you already have in your kitchen can remove stubborn fake tan.

Have you ever heard of this beauty hack or tried it? How do you give your lashes more curl?
