L’Oréal Paris Infallible Lip Paint reviews

But do they leave lips feeling dry? Our Review Crew® shares all…

The product

Statement lips are having a bit of a moment, and L’Oréal Paris’ latest lip colour addition, Infallible Lip Paints, deliver the bold finish you’re after. Combining pigmented colour with a caring formula that lasts, your lips will look and feel 10/10 all day and night.

Our Review Crew® put three of the 10 L’Oréal Paris Infallible Lip Paint shades to the test (205 Apocalypse Red, 207 Wuthering Purple and 204 Red Actually), and here’s what they had to say about their trial experience.

The panel

Beauty Crew sent the three shades of L’Oréal Paris Infallible Lip Paint to women aged between 18 and 28 who are lipstick junkies looking for long-lasting colour, without the dryness.

The lowdown

Here’s what the Review Crew® panel loved about the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Lip Paints:

The vibrancy of the colours: Between the three shades received, our testers were split on their favourite hue, but there was one thing they all agreed on: how vibrant and bold the colours are. While some noticed that the different shades required different layers to build the colour, the majority of testers were impressed with the intensely pigmented results overall.

How comfortable lips felt: Most testers found the colours that they tested weren’t completely matte in the finish, and that meant their lips didn’t feel dry or cracked after a few hours of wear.

The longevity of the colour: Review Crew® testers were happy to see that the colour of the Lip Paints lasted. Even though the initial layer of colour may have transferred, there was still a stain on the lips, meaning they didn’t need to reapply as often.

Good to know:

Reviewers did note that the Lip Paints didn’t dry down completely, so warned others that when wearing these they should be aware of colour transfer.

Reviewer tips:

A few of Beauty Crew’s members found that for the best results they paired the Lip Paint with a matching lip liner, and that warming up the product by rolling it between your hands before application made for a more consistent colour pay-off.

The verdict

“I found the consistency to be matte, but not too matte. They don't crack or go hugely dry as some other lipsticks do. A couple of layers are required through the day, but that was to keep the colour fresh and full.”

“They are probably one of the more comfortable liquid lipsticks on the market. They are long-wearing and do not dry out the lips, which I appreciate! Something to take into consideration is that these lip paints do not completely dry down and remain transferable as they have a pretty distinctive silicone slip to them.”

“Usually I'm quite apprehensive about matte lip colours, as I find them quite drying. However, these lip paints aren't really matte (ie. like a ColourPop liquid lipstick), but kind of like a lip stain. They go on with a nice, moisturising feeling and never really dry down to that matte finish, which is fine by me! They also have buildable colour, so you can try something subtle or something more obvious, depending on the situation. I really loved the scent, too!”
