The unexpected place Madonna applies clay masks

Unexpected Body Part Where Madonna Applies Clay Masks

If you’re only applying your clay mask to your face, your skin is seriously missing out

Before we get on to clay masks, can we first talk about what is quite possibly the world’s best kept secret. Madonna has her own skin care line! Yes, this was news to us, too.

Although it’s apparently not news at all – Madonna has had her MDNA SKIN range for over three years! Originally she launched it in Japan only, and it wasn’t until late last year that she decided to share her gift for age-defying formulas with the US. Alas, we can’t get our hands on her stuff (which mind you, doesn’t come cheap!), but we can all take away a valuable skin care tip from how Madonna herself uses one of her products.

Which brings us back to clay masks. It seems Madonna is a HUGE fan of them. There isn’t an inch of her body that she doesn’t slap it on…including her butt.

“I take the clay mask [MDNA SKIN Chrome Clay Mask] and put it everywhere,” she revealed in a recent interview with The Cut. “Just for fun, I tried it as an experiment. I put it on my décolletage, my breasts and my arms. Then I put it on my butt.”

“I thought, ‘Let me try this here’It was really good! It had the same effect.”

“It’s kind of a no-brainer.”

We would have to agree with you Madonna. It does seem like a wasted opportunity to not reap the benefits of clay masks – which include decongesting, brightening and nourishing – from head to toe.

Do we need a super smooth butt? Maybe not desperately, although Madonna disagrees: “I think people would want the skin on their butt to be smooth, glowing and hydrated. I mean, I know I do. There are certain special people that get to see our butt and you want it to look its finest.”

Ok, you have a point there.

As for the application, this is how it’s done, Madonna-style. “You just have to be willing to lay on your stomach and not move, while naked. And then [my facialist, Tarin] Skillets comes and removes it — such a fun job she has.”

For the rest of the world, we think you’ll find a quick rinse off in the shower will suffice.

Good to know: Madonna’s Chrome Clay Mask is actually super cool and unique. It contains mineral-rich Montecatini clay that has been formulated with a magnetic coating. So when it comes to removing the mask, you’re supposed to use the MDNA SKIN Skin Rejuvenator magnetic wand, which lifts the product off your face/butt/wherever without even touching the surface. It’s like magic. Watch it in action in this video from MDNA SKIN's Instagram:

Before you worry that you need to jump on a jet to Japan or the US to grab Madonna’s specific clay mask (although, yes please!), Madonna reckons any face mask will do. “You can take any face mask and try it on your behind. Skin is skin.”

If you want your butt to literally be as smooth as a baby’s bottom, we recommend giving any of these three clay masks a go: L’Oréal Paris Pure Clay Brightening Mask; Trilogy Mineral Radiance Mask; Pixi Glow Mud Mask.

Prefer to keep your mask application on your face? No problem. These are the new masks your skin is begging you to try.

What do you think – will you treat your derrière to a clay mask? Have you heard of Madonna’s skin care range before?
