When you’re looking for a new skin care product to add into your regimen, there are probably two things at the top of your wish list: a formula that works and one that won’t leave you eating two-minute noodles for months on end.

And while it’s true that in many cases (both in beauty and in life in general) that you get what you pay for, it’s also possible to stumble upon an option that delivers results at a really great price. That’s what we found when the recently reformulated Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream landed on our desk.

Already a best-selling product here in Australia and worldwide, Olay didn’t take the decision to reformulate the iconic day cream/night cream hybrid lightly – in fact, they poured 10 years of research into handpicking the very best ingredients to go in it. Olay scientists tested over 25,000 ingredients before selecting the top one per cent to use in their upgraded formulas (not just in the Regenerist anti-ageing range, but the Olay Luminous and Olay Total Effects ranges, too).

Their research confirmed that the existing signature ingredients in Olay products - niacinamide (vitamin B3), hyaluronic acid and penta-peptides (PAL-KTTKS) - are key components to help ageing skin regenerate its youthful appearance. See ya, fine lines and wrinkles!

The newcomer they added to the Micro-Sculpting face cream is carob fruit extract, which was shown through Olay’s in-vitro testing to help accelerate the recovery of aged skin and aid cell renewal so skin looks younger and the skin's surface is smoother. Combined with antioxidant olive extract, an amino-peptide complex (pro-collagen molecules), hyaluronic acid and glycerol to plump and hydrate skin, this advanced anti-ageing cream is a winner for skin wanting to look and feel lifted, plump and nourished.

Even more hardworking than before, Olay’s studies have shown that using the upgraded Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream for as little as four weeks can result in skin looking up to 10 years younger. The proof is in the before-and-after photos:

And it’s not just Olay’s internal testing that has us convinced this is a great product. In the US, Good Housekeeping conduct their own independent studies that put beauty products through their paces, and if they stack up to their intense and thorough testing then they are awarded a prestigious ‘seal’ of approval. So what did they think of the new re-engineered formula? After collecting more than 10,000 hydration measurements, the scientists at the Good Housekeeping Institute found that Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream moisturised 400 per cent better after the three-hour mark than all other products tested (including a selection of moisturisers from luxury brands), it increased moisture by 50 per cent on average over a 24 hour period, and it improved skin’s texture by 10 per cent in four weeks during the clinical study.

Not bad for a cream that costs less than $50.

Good to know: There's also an Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream Fragrance-Free version for sensitive skin.
