It takes commitment to play Sansa Stark!

Sophie Turner shot to stardom several years ago when she landed the role of Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones. And as we’ve come to know the actress more and more, our jealousy over her long and luscious hair has increased exponentially.

It turns out however, that maintaining Sansa’s fiery mane in the hugely popular show requires a lot more effort and upkeep than we would have ever expected. In fact, Sophie revealed to Allure recently that her hair “is dyed almost weekly on set,” to ensure her natural blonde colour doesn’t peek through. That’s a whole lot of time in a hairdresser’s chair!

Interestingly, Sophie also revealed to Refinery29 that Sansa’s hair is changed so often to represent the character’s ever changing state of mind. “Sansa’s hair is constantly reflecting the people she’s learning from, or mimicking, or inspired by at the time.” She continued saying, “when she’s Cersei’s prisoner and she’s kind of absorbing all her manipulative techniques, it’s reflected in her hairstyle, and when she’s finding the spirit of Margaery in herself, she wears her hair like Margaery.”

However, Sophie’s favourite look for Sansa is when her hair “was dyed black and pulled back in very tight, taut French braids. It was her own look, and something that she’d created,” she explained.

After that revelation, we can’t wait to see what hairstyles Sansa will rock next. Roll on Game of Thrones season seven!

Sophie's covetable locks, it seems have not only caught our attention, but the attention of international haircare brand, Wella. She has been announced as the Wella Professionals Global Ambassador, which means the actress is set to feature in upcoming campaigns for the brand from July, this year. We can't wait to see if working with Wella means we'll see even more hair experimentation from Sophie.
