Our busy lives call for simple hair solutions, but you don’t need to be a hairdresser to make your ’do look its best every day. Just follow these hair tricks to upgrade your mane during the cold harsh months of winter when the last thing you want to do is be standing on those chilly bathroom tiles for longer than necessary!

1

Fix winter static

Hair with lots of static is a sign that there is a lack of moisture in the air, so switch to a gentle cleansing shampoo and conditioner, says celebrity hairstylist Anthony Nader. “This will make the hair cuticle lie flat and tight, so no more frizzies.Turn down the heat temperature in the shower, and don’t rub your strands dry – ‘blot’ with a hair towel. Don’t over-brush your hair either, as the more you brush, the more prone it will be to static.” Try Essano Nourishing Shampoo and Conditioner.

Windproof your hairstyle

Did you know you are supposed to put bobby pins in with the curved side down? For extra grip and to save yourself from windy fly-away hair, spray them with hairspray first, before you put them in. Run out of pins? Add Gliders 36 Bobby Pins to cart.

Perfect an updo in seconds

Secure your hair into a ponytail with an elastic, then divide into two. Make a bun with one half and pin to secure. Wrap the remaining hair around the outer edge of the first bun and pin into place. Finish with hairspray – try De Lorenzo Elements Vapour Mist.

Dry shampoo like a pro

Dry shampoo is a cold morning's best friend! It saves you from getting up early to wash and blow-dry your hair, plus it adds volume at the roots to reboot your second-day hair. Remember to shake the can first, then aim the nozzle at the root area to soak up unwanted oils, advises Nader. Massage the dry shampoo in with your hands. Moisturise right

Sulphates can be drying, so look for sulphate-free shampoo and creamy formulas with
oils, such as coconut. Use a deep conditioning mask with oils, such as KMS Tame Frizz Smoothing Reconstructor, at least once a week. When your hair's healthy, it's a breeze to style.
