Considering a new ear piercing? Or perhaps piercing an entirely new body part altogether?
For some, poking a new hole is no big deal but for those who like to do their research (and know if a daith piercing is still going to be ‘in’ a few months down the track) – you’ve come to the right place.
UK-based piercing pros, Jewellerybox, have delved into the data and uncovered the world’s most popular piercing places, plus the up and coming trends you need to know about.
From noses to nipples, ears are only the beginning...
The most popular piercings in the world right now
When it comes to ears, the daith piercing comes out on top. It’s had an 84 per cent increase in searches over the last three years, and while it is stylish, the popularity is also partly due to its reputation for healing migraines.
Sitting front and centre, the tragus piercing might look like a painful spot, but it’s no more so than any other kind of cartilage piercing. Cartilage studs are the most popular jewellery to pop in this spot.
If you love the look of multiple ear piercings, the conch is a great addition. It’s versatile when it comes to placement, but typically sits mid to low down the ear cartilage and can be worn with hoop or studs.
Also known as a scaffold or construction piercing, the industrial piercing is usually identified by a single straight piece of jewellery, passing through two separate holes.
Surface tragus piercing
The surface tragus piercing has seen the biggest search increase of all, up 150 per cent in the last three years. But be warned, as it’s a surface piercing it’s prone to rejection and won’t work for everyone.
Whether you go the solo nipple like Kendall Jenner or take advantage of a two-for-one deal, the nipple piercing remains popular (and is easily concealed if it ever goes out of style).
