Fenty Beauty and Rare Beauty are leading the pack when it comes to their response to the Black Lives Matter Movement hashtag, #blackouttuesday, that has taken over Instagram on a global scale this Tuesday.

Rihanna has been extremely vocal across both her personal and Fenty brand accounts in her support of the reaction to the murder of George Floyd sharing the following thoughts with her fans:

So, it comes as no surprise that Fenty made the choice to shut up shop, and encouraged people to use the day “as a time to reflect and make real change” instead.

"We are not staying silent and we are not standing by.⁣"

"The fight against racial inequality, injustice, and straight up racism doesn’t stop with financial donations and words of support. In solidarity with the Black community, our employees, our friends, our families, and our colleagues across industries, we are proud to take part in #BlackoutTuesday.⁣ Fenty Beauty will NOT be conducting any business on Tuesday, June 2.⁣ This is not a day off. This is a day to reflect and find ways to make real change. This is a day to #PullUp⁣ Black Lives Matter."

Selena Gomez made a similar decision, choosing to close down the websites for her personal site and the newly launched Rare Beauty:

“It's our hope that we can all take time to do some introspective thinking about how we can all come together and listen to one another with an open heart and mind. We're also thinking through how we can take action against systemic racism and make change.”

Do your bit and go shopping. Yep you read that right. Check out the black-owned beauty brands you should be buying.
