The fragrances 7 beauty editors can’t live without

Their day, night and special occasion signature scents

Beauty Crew Beauty Writer / March 26 2018

As there are so many perfumes to choose from – and trying them all would be a major sensory overload – it can be hard to sort through the plethora of options and discover one that you truly love. To make things a little easier for you and to help narrow your search, we reached out to seven of Australia’s top beauty editors to discover which fragrances they simply can’t live without.

Daytime fragrance: Giorgio Armani Privé Figuier Eden Eau de Toilette is the perfect embodiment of a luxurious vacay in the Mediterranean, which is why I can’t stop spritzing it as often as possible. With notes like mouth-watering green fig and citrus zest, along with crowd-pleasing favourites such as pink pepper, iris and amber, how can you possibly go wrong?! Take my word for it – you’ll fall in love with this one at first whiff.

Nighttime fragrance: I’ve been wearing Narciso Rodriguez For Her Eau de Parfum for years and years, and for good reason: it’s a gorgeous floral fragrance that's centred around rose (my favourite note), its sillage is medium yet lasts for hours on skin, and the dry-down, which features musk and patchouli, is incredibly alluring.

Special occasion fragrance: A spritz for a special occasion calls for something a little out of the ordinary. Louis Vuitton Mille Feux is built upon classic notes of white flowers and iris, but what makes it interesting is the delightful additions of raspberry and leather that add a sweet and creamy nature without being too overwhelming.

Daytime fragrance: I’m always trialing new fragrances for work, but I’m currently wearing Bastide Figure Amour Eau de Toilette. It doesn’t launch until May 1, but it’s really subtle – a little bit sweet but woodsy and creamy at the same time.

Nighttime fragrance: I love Tom Ford Neroli Portofino Eau de Parfum. It launched around the time I took my first trip to Italy, so it always reminds me of summer nights whenever I wear it. It has a masculine undertone, which I love.

Special occasion fragrance: I wore CHANEL Coco Mademoiselle Parfum on my wedding day – it’s a parfum, so much more intense in composition than an eau de toilette or even an eau de parfum. It will always hold a special place in my heart, and now I reserve it for special occasions only.

Daytime fragrance: One of my favourite things about perfume is how it can transform your mood. That’s why Jo Malone London Mimosa and Cardamom Cologne has become my go-to for everyday. Notes of mimosa, cardamom, tonka and sandalwood combine in the most heavenly way to create an ethereal scent that instantly puts me in a good mood.

Nighttime fragrance: I first tried Tom Ford Velvet Orchid several years ago and haven’t looked back since. It’s an ultra-feminine, warm and luxurious scent that makes me feel like I’m a high-powered businesswoman who wouldn’t dream of wearing anything other than designer clothing and sky high-heels. A girl can dream right?

Special occasion fragrance: If a perfume has notes of white floral, then there’s a very good chance I’m going to love it. What takes AERIN Tuberose Le Soir Eau de Parfum to the next level however, is how it combines its floral tuberose notes with warm and luxurious mandarin, bergamot, sandalwood and ylang ylang. The unique combination produces an elegant fragrance that I spray every time I want to feel like a million dollars.

Daytime fragrance: For a daytime perfume I love CHANEL Gabrielle Eau de Parfum. Jasmine and ylang-ylang keep it super fresh, without being overwhelming or too sweet. I could happily wear it every day without getting sick of it.

Nighttime fragrance: My go-to evening scent is Giorgio Armani Si. I reach for Le Parfum or Intense for a little extra kick. For the daytime I like something quite subtle (so you don’t drown everyone in the office with your fragrance), but for nighttime I like noticing what I’m wearing. I love a deep woody scent to contrast the daytime floral.

Special occasion fragrance: For a special occasion I’ve really fallen in love with unisex fragrances. I bought Byredo Accord Oud Eau de Parfum for my boyfriend and I absolutely adore it. With leather, rum and patchouli it’s just very different to anything I’ve ever worn before. It’s a special occasion scent because it’s not mine and I have to be sneaky when I put it on!

Daytime fragrance: When it comes to daytime scents, I like something that’s fresh and vibrant – something that could add some pep to my day, if you will. The combination of fruity and floral notes in Jo Malone London English Pear and Freesia Cologne is the perfect combination to invigorate the senses. I also love that it lasts, so I can still catch a whiff come 6pm.

Nighttime fragrance: There is no fragrance that I own that makes a statement quite like Le Labo The Noir 29. Balanced with some sweet and spicy notes, this heavy-yet-alluring scent still manages to exude femininity. A definite head-turner, and well worth your hard-earned dollars!

Special occasion fragrance: I am a fiend for white floral fragrances, and the orange blossom and neroli notes in L’Artisan Parfumeur Histoire dOrangers Eau de Parfum are heaven. It’s fresh and crisp, while still not being overpowering or too sickly. It truly is the perfect combination that I save for those special events I want to remember when I smell its notes.

Daytime fragrance: Lancôme Vie Est Belle is one of my go-to scents. It’s quite girly and has a beautiful soft, sweet scent (although not too overbearing). It’s light, floral (with a hint of citrus) and perfect for everyday wear.

Nighttime fragrance: I love the warm, floral and earthy smell of Narciso Rodriguez For Her. It’s elegant, modern and extremely versatile - for me, it’s the perfect option for a night out. It’s also super long-lasting.

Special occasion fragrance: Chloé Signature Eau de Parfum is such a classic and it’s definitely one of my favourite fragrances. My mum has worn it for quite a few years, so the scent is familiar and memorable. It pretty much smells like a huge bouquet of white flowers - it’s fresh, sophisticated and effortless to wear. I think it’s such a signature scent that’s instantly recognisable.

Daytime fragrance: My all-time favourite scent is Issey Miyake L’Eau D’Issey Eau de Toilette. I’ve been wearing it since I was 16! I love that it’s a subtle fragrance that isn’t overpowering, but one that others always comment on.

Nighttime fragrance: I really love the new Chloé Nomade Eau de Parfum. It’s a very feminine fragrance that instantly puts me in a good mood when I spritz it on myself.

Special occasion fragrance: I was given Annick Goutal Tenue De Soirée Eau de Parfum as a gift and it has the most decadent bottle and a scent to match…perfect for a special evening out.
