The unexpected step that will take your highlighter to the next level

How To Take Your Highlighter To The Next Level

We promise your skin will love you for it

Over the past few years, we’ve learnt A LOT about highlighting, and by now we like to think we’re pretty much across all there is to know about the technique.

That was, until we spoke to Lancôme’s National Makeup Director Lara Srokowski while she was backstage at the Acler Resort 18/19 show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia.

She revealed to us a simple way to take our highlighter-induced glow to the next level that involves applying our favourite hydrating serum on top of our normal illuminator.

“If you want to achieve a really dewy and highlighted look, I suggest applying a touch of a hydrating and radiance-enhancing serum (my favourite is Lancôme Advanced Genifique) on top of your normal highlighter. Using your fingers, simply pat a small amount of product along your cheekbones and anywhere else you want to highlight for a really glossy and healthy-looking glow.”

If you like the sound of this idea but have concerns about how long the effect will last, Srokowski assures us that, “although the serum will absorb into the skin, the glossy glow will stick around throughout the day, creating a subtle and natural-looking finish.”

While this technique works brilliantly on top of your normal highlighter, it can also be used on its own for a incredibly natural glow, making it a great option for those who find traditional illuminators too glittery or shimmery.

Are you struggling to find a highlighter shade that matches your pale skin? Problem solved. This is the (unusual) illuminator shade every woman with fair skin should use.

Have you tried Srokowski’s highlighter trick before? Let us know in the comments below.
