The Celeb-Approved Hair Colour Trending Right Now

These four celebs all opted for the same colourful change over the weekend

Beauty Crew Contributing Editor / April 16 2018

A week hardly goes by without a celeb switching up their hair colour. But when, in the space of a few days, four celebs all opt for the same hair colour at the same time, we can’t help but feel a trend coming on.

And that’s exactly what’s happened: Kylie Jenner, Lucy Hale, Katy Perry AND Elsa Hosk have all painted the town pink over the weekend, proving to us that the bold hair colour trend is here to stay.

Coachella seems to have been their inspiration for Kylie and Elsa's hair colour change: The iconic festival does have a track record for bringing out the most adventurous side in all who attend (check out these past beauty looks from Coachella).

On her Instagram yesterday, Kylie shared a snap of her neon pink locks with an apt caption that read: “I’m not a regular mom I’m a cool mom.” That you are Kylie.

But before you get too attached to her boldest look yet – which also happens to glow in the dark! – Kylie has already moved on from her highlighter pink hair colour, revealing a denim blue shade just hours ago on Insta. We’re anticipating a new hair colour for every day of Coachella so watch this space!

Elsa’s pink hair is a tad more subtle yet equally cool. She’s opted for bright pink highlights focused around her hairline, which fades out to her natural blonde at the back. Very stunning and definitely one to take in to your hairdresser ASAP.

Next up we have Lucy Hale, whose colour is the handiwork of celebrity hairstylist Kristen Ess’s Rose Gold Temporary Tint. And while there's a chance Lucy might have picked this up from Target in the US (where the spray-on temporary hair colour is stocked) and done a DIY dye job, her flawless application, which has been blended so well with her natural brunette hair colour, leads us to believe that she had a little help from Kristen Ess herself.

Before you get too attached, you can add Lucy to that list of celebs who can’t seem to stick with a hair colour for long; just two days later she was spotted on the red carpet at the Truth Or Dare premiere rockin’ a slightly different hair colour – a bleached version of her rose gold hue with darker roots and lighter ends. We can’t decide which one we love more.

By now you’re surely starting to notice just how versatile this new hair hue can be – as an all-over colour, on blondes, on brunettes....

Finally, doing her part for the pink trend is Katy Perry. She’s never been one to shy away from a bold statement, and ever since she chopped her hair into a pixie cut it seems her beauty confidence has been boosted ten-fold. While she’s recently been seen on the set of American Idol with platinum blonde short hair, she’s just finished touring Asia, which is where inspiration seems to have struck. In an Instagram post, she’s credited the Japanese cherry blossoms as her new pink hair muse.

Enough proof for you that this is the hair colour you need right now?! If you do hop onboard this trend, take your makeup cues from the girls above. Note their matchy-matchy approach with a pink eye makeup look and dreamy luminescent highlight. That's how it's done this season.

Prefer a more low-key change? These are the latest hair colour trends to copy according to your natural hair colour.

Whose interpretation of the pink hair trend do you like most?
