It could very well become the new coconut oil

Australia is home to our fair share of blonde bombshells: Margot Robbie, Lara Worthington, Naomi Watts, Jennifer Hawkins, and one of our current beauty crushes, Rachael Taylor. Most well-known for her roles in Transformers, Grey’s Anatomy, and most recently, Netflix's Jessica Jones, the actress’ latest gig is the face of Neutrogena’s See What’s Possible Campaign. We’re not surprised, considering her clear and glowing complexion.

We recently caught up with the Los Angeles based-actress to chat all things beauty and skin care, and we discovered there's one very unexpected product Rachel keeps in her handbag for on-the-go touch-ups: avocado oil.

While we are huge fans of the benefits of beautifying oils, like wonder ingredient coconut oil, we were interested to hear Rachael confess that she can’t leave home without avocado oil.

The actress told Beauty Crew, “I put it on the ends of my hair because I have very processed, blonde, colour-treated hair.”

“[It’s] funny because I actually stole it from my boyfriend who was cooking with it. I experimented with it and put it on my hair,” she says. “I noticed that it is the oil of all the oils!”

While Rachael credits the oil for keeping her blonde hair healthy, the beauty benefits of avocado don’t stop there. We all know about the ‘good fats’ that the fruit contains when you have it on a piece of toast, but it also contains ingredients, such as sterolin, which can help boost your immune system and repair skin from the inside out. The wonder oil that comes from avocado also features in many skin products, as it is known for containing vitamin E, which is incredibly hydrating, and antioxidants, which can help protect your skin from the signs of ageing.

If you’re not game enough to add straight avocado oil into your beauty routine, you can find the ingredient in these nourishing and repairing products:
