The last few weeks, we’ve bid farewell to heavy coats and woollen jumpers, and said a big welcome back to shorter hemlines and lighter fabrics. With that in mind, it also makes sense to look for new inspiration to style up our hair, and where better to look than the spring and summer shows from New York, London, Milan and Paris, right? Here are three simple yet pretty ways to keep hair away from your face, along with expert tips from hairstylist Anthony Nader for getting the look.

1

With a hairband

Glamorous-looking hair doesn’t always have to involve loose waves or barrel curls. At the Dolce & Gabbana show, models took to the runway with sleek and straight hair and a jewelled headband to accessorise. A precise hair part is the key to this look - Nader explains how: “Use a metal tail comb (like Black Diamond #40 Metal Tail Comb) to create your precise centre part, then glide a straightener over your hair for a beautifully shiny finish.” Then, slide two headbands onto your head at different angles to finish.

2

With a silk scarf

Not sure how to style your silk scarf? Try wrapping it around your low ponytail, as seen at the Lanvin show. “Use a serum here, such as ghd Luxe Smooth & Finish Serum, to get this wet look, but remember to keep the surface on the scalp a little rough so that it has texture, rather than it looking smooth and precise,” says Nader. “Then, choose a piece of patterned fabric and wrap it around your ponytail and pin in place.”

3

With clips

The models at the Versace show oozed prettiness and proved that hair clips are much more than practical accessories. Nader explains the trick to nailing this hairstyle: “keep your hair looking super healthy by smoothing it over with a large paddle brush, then slide in a detailed metallic clip as your feature.” Top tip: Go with a boar bristle brush, like Mason Pearson Pure Boar Bristle Brush, to promote shine.
