While blonde hair can look brassy and dull over time, brunette hair can also lack vibrancy after a few washes at home, no matter if it’s your natural hair colour or a dye job. The solution? Clever products that can bring your brunette hair colour back to life, easily and quickly. We spoke with hairstylist Elyston Hayden for his best advice on re-vamping brunette hair at home.

1

Try a gloss

One of the most effective ways to boost the look of brunette hair is with a gloss applied over the top of your hair. “Brunette hair that is dry or damaged can look lacklustre,” says Hayden. “However, an at-home treatment, like a gloss, can quickly reverse that.” Try Schwarzkopf Live Salon Refresher For Cool Browns or For Dark Browns to give your brown hair a boost.

Try a colour treatment

Enrich the colour of your brunette hair with a treatment that refreshes dull colour. Something like John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Visibly Deeper Treatment can be used on wet hair. Simply pop a generous amount into your hair after shampooing, leave on for five minutes, then rinse it all out with water.

Try a different shampoo

Surprisingly, purple shampoo shouldn’t just be reserved for those with blonde locks. “Purple shampoo is great for brunette hair as well, as it can knock out any warm tones,” says Hayden. Try Original Mineral Conquer Blonde Silver Shampoo.
