Thick, lustrous locks are atop every woman’s wish list. But when you have thin hair – be it from genes or damage – you’re often left dealing with stringy, hard-to-style strands on a daily basis. Celebrity hairstylist Kevin Murphy shares his tips to a healthy head of thicker hair.

1

Pick the right hair care products

Choosing the right shampoo and conditioner is essential. Look for products that specifically target thinning, with ingredients like “oleanolic acid, nettle extract and ginger root,” says Murphy. We like Kevin.Murphy Plumping.Rinse.

Target the issue at the roots

Treating your scalp to a mask and nourishing the skin will help overall hair health. Promoting blood flow to the area will help fight follicular ageing, improving the condition of both the scalp and hair. Try Make Soft Treatment and take the time to massage it in.

3

Create volume

“Lotions can really aid thin hair,” says Murphy. Pick products that use the same technology as eyelash thickeners and lengtheners, helping to heal and rejuvenate damaged hair. Our pick: Redken Thickening Lotion 06.

Don’t overuse styling products

“Too many times I see product heaped into hair, when it can only absorb so much. Instead, layer the product,” says Murphy. Start with a small amount on damp hair, then blow-dry. Apply a bit more, then blow-dry again. “This will ensure that the right amount of product is used and boosts density.”
To dry your hair, try Remington Keratin & Argan Oil Nourish Hair Dryer – this new gentle hairdryer has inbuilt nodules packed with keratin and argan oil that release slowly
as you dry, to help protect
 and nourish hair.
