In news sure to delight fashion lovers around the globe, luxury French fashion brand Hermès has just launched a makeup range for the first time in the brand’s 183-year history.

The first instalment in the range to drop includes a 24 shades-strong lipstick collection with an additional three colours to launch each season. The chic packaging, designed by Hermès’ creative director of jewellery and shoes Pierre Hardy, is a minimalist’s dream and features a refillable metal case.

“We wanted to do refillable so we could use more luxurious materials that had their own value,” Pierre told WSJ Magazine

“The idea is a form that’s both simple and playful enough to allow it to be done and redone ad infinitum. It’s rare for an artistic director to think about packaging over a long period of time and not just a one-off.”

In addition to the lipstick, the collection also includes lip products to form the basis of a ritual: a lip care balm, Poppy lip shine, a universal lip pencil, and a lip brush in lacquered wood.

In an ode to Hermès’ coveted accessories, the lipstick will be available in two finishes: A matte inspired by the texture of fine-grained suede, and a satin with a glow like the smooth leather of the Hermès Kelly bag.

But, that’s not all – whispers in the beauty industry have it that an Hermès skin care range will also soon be launched.

The Rouge Hermès collection is available from 4 March 2020 at selected Hermès stores and retail outlets in 35 countries.
