ADVERTORIAL: The expert tips to recreate this flawless look

Gigi Hadid may be one of the supermodel faces of Maybelline New York, but she’s also fast become the unofficial face of perfectly flawless and highlighted skin.

And because we’re all after the kind of luminous look that says we’ve just spent a few months enjoying the Hamptons summer, we asked Maybelline New York Makeup Director Nigel Stanislaus for his pro tips for recreating Gigi’s go-to glow.

1

Prep your skin

The key to a flawless makeup is putting in the effort before you even start with your foundation. Stanislaus recommends giving your skin a good cleanse with Garnier Micellar Water, followed by your moisturiser.

Lay your base

To achieve a look as radiant as this, you want to opt for a foundation that will leave your skin with a velvety smooth finish, as a dewy-finish foundation paired with highlighting products may leave your skin looking a little too shiny. Stanislaus recommends using Maybelline New York Dream Velvet Matte Foundation as it offers, “great even coverage without the heaviness and it leaves this wonderful moisturising finish”.

For the best results with application, Stanislaus says “fingers are best, because you can blend better when the product is warmed up by your own body heat”.

Add some bronze

To add some warmth to your complexion and to give your cheekbones added definition, take the Maybelline Master Contour Palette for easy contouring in three steps. Using the contour shade and a sculpting brush, apply the powder on the underside of your cheekbones. “Stroke the brush downwards from your sideburns towards the corner of your mouth. Always use a clean brush and blend well,” says Stanislaus.

TOP TIP: Stanislaus suggests also lightly applying your powder lightly along your hairline, temples, and jawline

4

Highlight your cheekbones

When it comes to a radiant finish, this is where the magic happens. Using a soft powder brush and the same Maybelline Master Contour Palette, very lightly apply the blush powder along your cheekbones for a hint of colour, and then take the highlight powder and dust it slightly above the blush, on your temples, down the bridge of your nose and just above your cupid’s bow. The powder in this palette will give you a nice highlight that isn’t too sparkly, which is what gives you that glow.

TOP TIP: Make sure the light is facing you as you do this step, as if you’re in the dark, you’ll misjudge how much powder you’re applying and may end up looking too shiny.

5

Define your eyes

As the focus of your makeup look is your bronzed glowing skin, you don’t want to go too overboard with your eye look. To copy Gigi’s subtly defined eyes, Stanislaus recommends carving out the socket area with a rich bronze shade from the Maybelline New York The Nudes Palette, and then using a charcoal hue for added definition across your top and bottom lash lines. Then, make your eyes pop by using a bronze or champagne eyeliner on your bottom waterline.

Add a couple of coats of mascara to lengthen and define your lashes, and your eyes are done!

6

Finish with a subtle lip

While a bold lip colour will certainly pop, a soft nude is the best way to finish off this radiant look. To copy Gigi’s shade, try Maybelline New York Color Sensational Matte Liquid Lip Color in Nude Flush. To achieve the same glossy finish as Gigi’s, gently dab some lip balm over the top of your lip colour.

If you have fair skin and want to try a colour that has more pink to it, try Color Sensational Blushed Nudes in Pink Fling, and if you’ve got darker skin and want a lip colour with some brown tones in it, try Color Sensational Stripped Nudes in Tantalizing Taupe.
