Jameela Jamil just DIY’d Her Makeup For The MTV Movie & TV Awards

Actor, feminist, makeup artist

Beauty Crew Digital Content Editor / June 17 2019

Jameela Jamil has to be one of our fave celebrities of the moment.

Not only is she completely down-to-earth, she’s an aggressive advocate (and we mean that in the very best way) when it comes to spreading body positivity messages.

The British actress calls herself a “feminist in progress” and has previously spoken out against the dangers of excessive airbrushing, requesting that magazines not retouch her when she features in their shoots.

Did a fun cover shoot with @virginatlantic for their magazine and we talked all things @i_weigh @nbcthegoodplace and my general bumble and stumble into acting. They also agreed to not airbrush me in any way, which I really appreciated as I find photoshop to be one of the worst things to happen to women. ❤️

She also just attended the 2019 MTV Movie & TV Awards red carpet – and she did her own makeup! And we think she looks STUNNING:

🤷🏽‍♀️ why they always so serious? 🤷🏽‍♀️

Getting to give Best Documentary to "Surviving R Kelly" was a true honour. Dress @balmain Shoes @prada Styled by @jasonbolden Hair @robertlopezcut Make up by me.

What a badass!

And she’s gone one better than just doing her own makeup. Instead of opting to play it safe with a nice (yet simple) neutral-toned look, she’s gone all-out with a creative coloured eye look that the likes of Pat McGrath and Patrick Ta would be proud of. Her teal eyeshadow is absolutely on point and complements her deep brown eyes perfectly.

We also love that she’s applied the colour not just to her eyelids but how she’s used it to line her lower lashes.

Considering that red carpet events are rife with some of the most extra (and expensive) beauty looks, it’s incredibly refreshing to see a celeb going against the grain and trying their hand at doing their own makeup.

Yep, we think Jameela is one rising star we should all keep an eye on.

If you also love a colourful eye look on the red carpet, check out Mandy Moore's recent blue eyeshadow look.
