La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo Plus

Here’s what our Review Crew® had to say about this treatment for blemish-prone skin

The product

If you suffer from acne, breakouts, blackheads or any other hallmark of congested skin, chances are you’ll be VERY familiar with every purifying product on the market. And it’s not just the actual pimples that cause us pain; it’s also the angry red marks, scars and pigmentation that are left behind long after the zits themselves have cleared.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo(+) is our latest discovery (and saviour) for blemish-prone skin. It contains a combo of ingredients including salicylic acid and piroctone olamine niacinamide to purify and treat congested skin, prevent future breakouts, and diminish red marks and pigmentation.

Yep, this bad boy doesn’t muck around and the good news doesn’t stop there – the formula also includes ingredients to soothe irritated skin.

Our panel of Review Crew® testers put this product to the test.

The panel

Beauty Crew sent La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo(+), as well as La Roche-Posay Effaclar Foaming Gel, La Roche-Posay Effaclar Mat and La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Anti-Shine Dry Touch Tinted SPF 50+ to a panel of women aged between 18 and 35 who were searching for a treatment to improve their oily, acne-prone skin.

The lowdown

Here’s what the Review Crew® loved about La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo(+).

The texture of the treatment: Reviewers were pleased to discover that the lightweight treatment soaked into their skin quickly and easily without leaving behind any residue. It also worked really well under makeup, which is a huge plus when you’re trying to conceal blemishes.

How effective the treatment was on congested skin: Members loved how efficiently the treatment worked on existing pimples and blackheads, as well as how it helped prevent future congestion from forming.

That the treatment helped reduce red marks: The Review Crew® were thrilled to find that the treatment didn’t just treat congested skin, it also reduced the appearance of red marks, scars and pigmentation that had been caused by previous pimples.

The verdict

“I am obsessed with this product. It does an incredible job [of] clearing out the pores and clarifying the skin, as well as diminishing the appearance of blemishes. I get quite a bit of hormonal acne during that time of the month, but with using this product, I received little to none - so impressed! Overall this is an amazing product if you have blemish-prone skin.”

“I loved using this product! It was so lightweight, and absorbed quickly into my skin without feeling oily or sticky. I have definitely seen a difference in my skin since using this product, especially a reduction in breakouts. It's perfect for my combination skin, as it doesn't make my face feel clogged or look shiny by the end of the day. A little definitely does go a long way!”

“My skin absolutely loved the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo Plus! It is very light and easily absorbed but still left my skin hydrated and feeling fresh. I found a real improvement in my overall skin health and a substantial difference in the depth of my acne scarring, particularly on my cheeks. I used a little every day and saw a gradual improvement.”
