Beauty Crew Editor / May 25 2017

It’s one thing to have long, defined, and curled lashes. It’s another to achieve the kind of intensity that’ll add enough drama to your eye look that you won’t need to turn to falsies.

We spoke to L’Oréal Paris Makeup Director for Australia Tobi Henney to get her top tips and tricks for creating the most intense cat eye look you’ve ever achieved.

# 1 / Pick the right tool

When intensity is what you’re after, it’s important to pick the mascara that’ll help you achieve that. L’Oréal Paris Volume Million Feline Lashes Mascara has been designed to give your lashes that fierce feline finish and added volume in a matter of coats.

The bristles and shape of the wand have been specifically designed to capture each lash and coat them in the glossy, volumising formula while lifting your lashes and upping the intensity.

“The curved, comb-like mascara wand will ensure your lashes have a dramatic, intense finish,” says Henney. A curved wand can also help you get those teeny outer lashes that tend to be missed, and that can completely amplify your eye look

#2 / Add more intensity

While using a lash volumising formula like the Feline mascara will certainly go a long way in helping you achieve added intensity, a liquid liner can take your cat eye look to the next level by working with the mascara to stretch out your eyes.

“Applying L’Oréal Paris SuperLiner Perfect Slim on your upper lash line will add definition and depth to your eyes. I find it makes you look more awake too!,” says Henney.

To maximise intensity, apply your liquid liner as close as possible to the lash line, ensuring there are no gaps. To create the perfect flick, read our easy-to-follow winged liner tutorial.

#3 / Get creative with your liquid liner

While Henney says you can certainly use a liquid liner on your top lash, another clever way is to use the pointed tip in the inner corner of your eye flicking downwards. This inner Feline flick will take your look to the next level and will effectively create the illusion of stretched and defined eyes. The fact that Superliner Perfect Slim is long-lasting means you don’t have to worry about it smudging off.

#4 / Use eyeshadow to your advantage

A fierce feline eye doesn’t always have to only be the work of good mascara and liner – the clever placement and shade choice of your eyeshadow can help, too.

“Try to keep the shade on your lids in the light-medium range and use darker shades on the crease and lower lash line,” says Henney.

#5 / Curl, curl, curl

While a curved wand can certainly give your lashes extra lift, Henney recommends using a lash curler before. “Curling the lashes before mascara is absolute key! This will make them look longer, and applying your mascara with a curved wand will instantly make your eyes look more awake and the lashes more dramatic,” she says.
