4 ways to test how long-lasting your lipstick is

Hilarious and informative in equal measure

There’s no makeup look quite as striking, sexy and empowering as a statement red lip. And we know all too well that finding that perfect shade that flatters your skin tone is like looking for the Holy Grail, but the sad truth is that’s only the first step… Not only do you need to find the right colour, you then need to find one that will last the distance because reapplying your lippie ten times a day is way too much maintenance for most of us.

While we’ve already shared tips on the best ways to go about ensuring you don’t buy a dud product, Rhett and Link from YouTube’s Good Mythical Morning channel may have just outdone us by creating the best (and most hilarious) video test to see if your long-wearing red lippie is up to scratch.

These guys dubbed the process, “Let’s Find the Lip-Stickage With the Least Slippage” and it involved putting two popular long-lasting matte lipsticks (Maybelline New York SuperStay 24 Lip Color and Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick) through the ultimate date-night test to see which one would come out on top.

To begin with, Rhett and Link (yep, they’re the ones doing the testing!) sat down for a faux dinner date and chowed down on a seriously saucy stack of ribs, ensuring no effort was made to keep their bright lipstick intact. While that meal option is enough to scare any red lipstick wearer into hiding, the next three tests seriously upped the stakes. One involved submerging the two guy’s heads into buckets of water, another, kissing a mannequin, and then the last test saw the two YouTubers rubbing their faces on white pillows to see how much residue would come off.

To see the hilarity ensue and find out which lipstick came out on top, you can watch the video below:
