5 tricks to help your makeup last longer

There’s no need to worry about reapplying

Whether you’re heading to the office or out for a few drinks, the last thing you should be worrying about is how your makeup is looking. Here are some of our favourite tips to ensure your face stays put all day (and night).

Problem

Your face doesn’t look fresh come 12pm

Your fix: A long-wearing foundation, such as Maybelline New York Superstay 24HR Foundation. The clever reformulation won’t cake through the day and has the ability to withstand moisture (so no need to worry in the rain or humidity). Simply, this means it looks flawless and feels fresh all day long, and, best of all, is ideal to use on all skin types.

Problem

Your lipstick doesn’t stay on

Your fix: Start with a blank canvas by lining and filling lips with a nude-coloured pencil, then apply your favourite colour, and blot with a tissue. Want a richer, deeper colour? Repeat this process two or three times. Top with gloss over the top for extra dimension.

Problem

Your eyeshadow creases through the day

Your fix

Instead of painting on your eyeshadow dry, pop a creamy eyeshadow in a similar shade underneath to act as a base. Or, turn your powder eyeshadow into a wet formula by spritzing a fluffy brush with water, before dipping it into your palette.

Problem

Your highlight and contour slides off

Your fix: If you’re finding that your contour, highlight and blush aren’t staying in place through the day, use a makeup spritz to seal in your look. While it may be the only choice for keeping your style in place, don’t be tempted to use hairspray - it’ll block your pores, resulting in breakouts the next day.

Problem

Your nail polish chips within the day

Your fix: After applying polish from your nail bed to the tip, go over the free edge by sweeping across from side to side. This creates a seal so your nail polish doesn’t flick off unexpectedly. Also reapply your top coat every other day for increased longevity.
