6 delicate fragrances to try this season

With a name like ‘Lazy Sunday Morning’, it’s clear what Maison Margiela was hoping to achieve with the fragrance inside. Lily of the valley, iris, rose and orange flower make the spritz really easy to wear, and the base notes of white musk, Indonesian patchouli oil and ambrette seed offer a sense of warmth and longevity despite it being an EDT.

Jo Malone’s latest collection takes inspiration from English fields. Head of Global Fragrance at Jo Malone, Celine Roux, explains further: “I’ve developed a fascination with the textures, colours and ingredients of grains and the harvest traditions in Britain. There’s a beauty to the imperfection of the English landscape – I love the contrast of cultivated fields against the pops of flowers and lush pastures that you can’t control.” Honey & Crocus is undeniably the standout of the collection, and we think it's got everything to do with how simple the composition is. The top note of lavender creates a soothing effect, the heart note of crocus adds a touch of spice, and the base notes of honey and almond milk round out the juice with a creamy character.

There’s something totally addictive about Nomenclature Adr_ett EDP. Could it be the sweet pink pepper, the smooth synthetic musk, the smoky tonka bean or the arousing ambergris? Either way, this spritz is something that’ll pique immediate interest and make you want to wear it over and over again.

The newest Issey Miyake fragrance - L’Eau D’Issey Pure Nectar de Parfum - is a gorgeous melange of honeyed rose, sandalwood, ambergris and cashmeran accord, which evokes a sense of warmth like a big hug. What makes this fragrance stand out from the rest is the addition of sea spray, which adds a sense of freshness and keeps the spritz smelling modern (and less like something your grandma would wear).

Le Jour Se Lève is the newest release for French luxury brand Louis Vuitton, and it sure stands up against the existing fragrances in the range. Its name directly translates to “the day begins” and the entire scent experience is as delightful as the early moments of the morning. The opening note of mandarin offers a mouth-watering touch at the start, which settles into delicious blackcurrant, blooming jasmine, peony and osmanthus, and then develops into warming base notes of incense and musk. This spritz is a must-have if you’re into light fruity-floral scents.

Eau de Soleil Blanc is a nice diversion from the other heavier fragrances in Tom Ford’s portfolio. Opening with orange bitter peel and vert de bergamot, the spritz takes a slightly spicier profile with pink peppercorn and cardamom, which is balanced nicely with the delicate additions of Moroccan orange flower, jasmine, tuberose and ylang ylang. No Tom Ford fragrance is complete without a sensual finish, which is where coco de mer, amber and vanilla come into play. It’s become a firm office favourite, and we foresee this one flying off shelves.
