Everything you need to know about sun-striping

Here’s a way to wear bronzer in winter

Beauty Crew Beauty Editor / August 26 2016

Love it or hate it, contouring is definitely here to stay.

We’ve seen tontouring come and go (that’s contouring with fake tan along your cheekbones); clown contouring make a statement (literally drawing clown-style makeup on your face with beige and pink tones before blending); and even chest contouring become a trend (using dark shades to mimic a larger bosom).

The newest contouring trend to make waves is ‘sun-striping’ - using a darker shade horizontally across your forehead and from cheekbone to cheekbone, like you’ve spent a week carving it up in the snow.

Now before you dismiss this aprés-ski inspired look, it’s actually a great way to wear bronzer this winter, and is surprisingly a cinch to master. And if it works for JLo, then it certainly works for us. Here’s how to do it…

1

Layer with base

Start with a light and dewy foundation (we love Burberry’s Bright Glow Foundation), and apply it from the centre of your face, outwards. The key to this look is something that won’t cover you up too much - you want to let your freckles shine through.

2

Shade it in

Give your face a golden glow by sweeping a matte bronzer in a line across your face (we love Nude By Nature Pressed Matte Mineral Bronzer). Start from the top of your ear, and work the line towards the bridge of your nose. Repeat the process on the other side of your face.

3

Add some more

Pick up some more bronzer with your brush, and blend it in a straight line right above your eyebrows.

4

Add some gloss

Swipe a glossy balm straight onto lips to finish the look; go for a nude shade to compliment the natural tones of your face.
