Tell us a bit about your experience in the industry:
Previous to starting at InStyle, I was writing beauty and health content for a digital platform housing a number of magazine titles. And before that, I made my start in publishing writing for Home Beautiful magazine.
What’s been your biggest career highlight?
When my now editor Emily Taylor offered me my dream role at InStyle Australia.
What’s been your favourite beauty discovery?
Eyelash lifts. They give life to my usually unremarkable lashes.
What do you think is the one beauty product every woman should own?
I’m going to give two because I’m indecisive: a broad-spectrum sunscreen and a classic red lipstick.
What’s the best beauty tip you’ve ever learnt?
Skin appreciates consistency. If you stick to a regular regimen containing products you love, you’ll most likely avoid skin freak outs.
Confess your biggest beauty sin
I’m guilty of never removing nail polish.
What’s your biggest beauty battle?
Trying to line up washing my hair with going to the gym. I wish I could be one of those girls who can get away with washing their hair just once or twice a week.
Who is your beauty idol?
Make-up artist and Estée Lauder Global Beauty Director Violette. She has the guts to rock just a first name (like Madonna) and a fringe full-time. Plus, she’s the epitome of effortless French Girl Beauty.
What is your beauty philosophy?
Have fun with it and don’t ever let anyone make you feel like enjoying beauty is vain or empty.
Bettina is the Beauty Editor at InStyle. Between trying the latest products and roadtesting a slew of treatments - she looks after the magazine's beauty pages. You also find her words on marie claire and Home Beautiful.
