This has to be the weirdest beauty gadget we’ve seen yet

We’re not sure what to think

Just when we think we’ve seen it all, something even weirder and more wonderful pops up in the beauty world.

Presenting: Miniature washing machines that clean your makeup sponges.

Beauty vlogger Tiffany Lynette Davis recently uploaded a YouTube video of herself washing her makeup sponges in the contraption.

Needless to say, the Internet is freaking out!

Yep, it’s a brave new world folks and we’re living in it.

But before we all get too excited, let us first disclaim that the washing machine in question is a toy. Like an actual dollhouse toy.

However, regardless of its extremely mini size, the gadget seems to function in much the same way that its full-size counterparts would. We’re not even joking - it has a spin cycle and everything.

That’s not all – it’s equipped with a fully-functioning hose that drains the dirty water following the wash (of course it is).

Truthfully, we’re not sure if we’re impressed or concerned at this state of affairs.

So how well does it actually work?

Davis used the mini washing machine to clean two beautyblenders of varying states of dirtiness (one with four coats of makeup, the other with a light dusting of powder) and used the machine to first complete a wash cycle with a dollop of face cleanser. She then drained the machine and performed a rinse cycle with fresh water to remove more of the grime and soap from the sponges.

Truth be told, the results on the heavily soiled beautyblender weren’t great (it came out looking still-grubby and full of makeup) but the lightly-used beautyblender fared slightly better and came up looking marginally cleaner than when it went in.

With this in mind, Davis is very careful to disclaim:

“Would I recommend this for everyday use? No. Like I said, this is a toy - this is not a beautyblender or makeup sponge washer so just beware of that when you see sites advertising it as that since I posted this video.”

“But you can use it and if you’re extra like me and you like super cute, fun, girly gadgets, then you will love this.”

“Just note that this is not made for your sponges or your beautyblenders at all. This is literally a child’s toy,” reiterates Davis.

The Internet is already exploding with places to purchase the toy, but after seeing Davis’s even-less-than-lacklustre results, we think we’ll wait until something purpose-built (that actually does a good job) is released onto the market.

Hello beauty tool companies, we’re now looking at you to come up with the goods!
