While the majority of big Australian festivals take place in the summer months, there are still a slew of music events just around the corner, such as Splendour in the Grass.
To ensure that you’re properly prepared for all the traditional festival rite of passages, including facial glitter, dirty hair and the unfortunate lack of showers, we’ve compiled a list of the 10 beauty products that deserve a place on your packing list.
The reality of multiple days-long music festivals is the lack of showering options available. So, to ensure your body feels as fresh as possible for as long as possible, we seriously suggest a value pack of antibacterial baby wipes make its way into your bag.
We recommend: WET ONES Be Fresh Original Wipes
In a similar vein to baby wipes, hand sanitiser is a must-have at festivals when basins with running water aren't always around. While any antibacterial hand sanitiser will do, we recommend choosing a product with a non-sticky and soothing formula to ensure your hands aren’t left feeling dry and itchy.
We recommend: Dettol Hand Sanitizer Chamomile
Mini dry shampoo
We’re pretty sure we don’t need to explain how much of a lifesaver dry shampoo can be in a festival situation. However, instead of lugging your normal sized dry shampoo with you, which will not only take up a lot of room in your bag but will most likely become the communal product everyone ends up using, we suggest purchasing a travel sized version that you can ditch at the end of the weekend if necessary.
We recommend: Klorane Gentle Dry Shampoo with oat Milk 50mL
Cordless hair straightener
Gone are the days where you needed to style your hair the day you left for a festival and hope that it would last the distance. Now, all thanks to the wonder that is technology, rechargeable cordless hair straighteners exist and are here to save the day.
We recommend: PuraBeauté LoLa Cordless Hair Straightener
Temporary hair dye
There’s no better time to experiment with your hair and its colour than at a festival. Luckily, temporary hair dyes are becoming increasingly popular with more advanced formulas that don’t stain your hair or clothes and wash out when you want, with little to no fuss.
We recommend: L’Oréal Paris Colorista 1-Day Spray
Alternatively, if you’re heading to Splendour in the Grass this coming weekend, L’Oréal Paris will have their very own Colorista Hair Colour Bar, where L’Oréal Paris Colorista 1-Day Spray’s and Wash Out products will be given away to festival-goers. You can also head to the colour bar and receive a hair wash, blow-dry and style, all for free!
Cosmetic grade glitter
Glitter has become synonymous with festivals in recent years, with many using it as an additional accessory. Instead of opting for the run-of-the-mill glitter available in craft shops, we suggest purchasing cosmetic grade glitter that’s been designed for use on human skin and is coloured with pigment rather than dye, meaning it won’t bleed or stain your skin.
We recommend: Glitter Haven Cosmetic Grade Glittter
If you want to put a little extra effort into your makeup at a festival, multitasking stick formulas are the way to go. While you can pick up a slew of stick products from foundations to blushes, we suggest opting for a bronzing and highlighting duo to add warmth and definition while leaving your skin looking radiant and glowing.
We recommend: Maybelline New York Master Contour V Face Duo Stick
When considering which products to take to a festival, you want beauty buys that you can apply quickly and forget about for the rest of the day. That’s where waterproof mascara comes in. Not only will it leave your lashes elongated and defined, you won’t need to worry about flaking or smudging if you get a little sweaty or caught in the rain.
We recommend: Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara Waterproof
While you’re bound to have numerous baby wipe and deodorant showers that will keep you from smelling a tad funky, it’s always nice to go the extra mile and douse yourself in your favourite perfume. Instead of taking your go-to bottle that’s heavy and definitely a product you don’t want to lose, pick up your favourite scent in rollerball form. Odds are it will set up residence in your handbag pre-festival and never leave afterwards!
We recommend: Marc Jacobs Daily Rollerball
