Nikki Phillips spills all of her beauty secrets

How she always looks so fresh and glowy, and the secret behind those effortless waves

Editor / December 17 2019

Media personality, model and influencer Nikki Phillips looks flawless 100 per cent of the time. And it’s not just an Instagram filter thing – we’ve met her in person, and we can confirm her glowing skin and perfectly effortless waves are the real deal. So how does she do it? What are her secrets? Thankfully it’s not just a case of good genes (does help, though). She relies on arsenal of products and a few clever tricks, and we managed to convince her to spill all the juicy details.

With your work and family commitments, you’re one busy lady. What are some tricks you have up your sleeve to get ready quickly but still look polished and fresh?
“I’m so time-poor these days, so for me less is more. I like to keep it quick and easy, so my go-to, is L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Red Cream, which enhances the appearance of skin tone giving a great dewy look. A tiny bit of L’Oréal Paris Infallible [More Than] Concealer under the eye, and my fast makeup trick is blush on my eyes and cheeks and a good lashing of mascara – Marc Jacobs is my favourite – with L’Oréal Paris Brow Artist Plumper to finish this simple look. For hair, it’s VS Sassoon Curl Secret Optimum – it’s so easy for the perfect quick curl. [I then] spray with sea salt and I’m done.”

Talk us through your morning skin care routine?
“Again, I keep it simple. In the mornings, it’s a cleanse whilst in the shower, followed by L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Red Cream before my simple makeup look. “

What about at night?
“It’s off with the makeup using a Face Halo and water, then exfoliate, and then about twice a week I like to give my skin a moisturising mask.”

You are the queen of the tousled wave – tell us your secrets!
“The queen! Wow what a compliment. I can’t take all the credit, my secret weapon AKA the VS Sassoon Curl Secret Optimum does it all. I just hold it [while it curls my] hair and spray with sea salt spray!”

Given you travel a lot, you must have nailed the travel beauty kit. What must-haves would we find in yours?
“If it’s a family holiday, you will find very little beauty products as I think this is a great time to be in my own skin and be all natural. If anything, mascara and eyebrow gel. My two “can’t live without” products.

If it’s for work, well, that’s a different story. For hair it’s L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.ART Wild Styler Beachwaves and VS Sassoon Curl Secret Optimum.
Skin: L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Red Cream and Go-To [Properly Clean] Facial Cleanser. For makeup remover, I’m all about the Face Halo – it’s good for skin and the environment.
Makeup: Laura Mercier Foundation, L’Oréal Paris Infallible Concealer, Charlotte Tilbury Makeup Palette (it has eyes, cheeks and highlight covered in one), Marc Jacobs mascara and L’Oréal Paris Brow Artist Plumper. Depending on work level, maybe a red lippy and eye liner would be thrown in, too.

I’m all about products with multiple uses, so lippy that could be used on cheek, or an eyeshadow that can also be used to define eyebrows.”

What’s been your biggest beauty regret?
“I don’t really have one. I was partial to some green and purple eyeshadow in my youth, but hey, so was everyone. I always loved my bushy brows, so thank goodness I didn’t follow in my teen icon’s (Drew Barrymore) footsteps and go thin!”

What’s the best beauty lesson you’ve ever learnt?
“Toothpaste on a pimple. If you do this before bed, I guarantee no pimple in the morning.”

Nikki isn’t the only one loving the L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Red Cream – our Review Crew® put the fatigue-fighting formula to the test and you can read what they thought right here.
