The pink eyeshadow makeup trend is surprisingly versatile

Celebrity-approved

In the world of makeup trends, we never really believe that something is worth trying until we see it plastered all over the face of our favourite celebrities.

From the many magnificent makeup looks of Doja Cat to Gigi Hadid’s signature floating eyeliner look and Bella Hadid delighting our peepers with never-ending smokey eye inspiration, we’re spoiled for choice when it comes to potential beauty looks.

The latest trend to take the world of celebrity by storm?  Pink eye makeup. And it’s being worn in just about every which way you can imagine. From subtle peek-a-boo eye makeup moments to bold pink-centric eye looks, there’s a bit of something for everyone’s taste.

Let’s get creative out there folks!

The pink smokey eye

This classic eye look just got a modern revamp, with celebs like Lizzo, Saweetie and actress Adeline Rudolph leading the way. Safe to say we’re eating up all of the deliciously deep and dusty-hued pinks on this eyeshadow menu.

More evidence this trend is true? There were plenty of pink eyes (the good kind) spotted at the 2021 Met Gala. Cara Delevingne amped up the drama with a blown-out, pink smokey winged eye makeup look that epitomised the rebellious attitude her outfit was channeling. We’re definitely taking inspo from the model the next time we’re allowed out of the house. Now if only we could get our hands on a ‘peg the patriarchy’ vest….

Boldly pink

Let’s be real, you’re already putting an eye-catching colour all over your eyelid so why not be purposeful about it? Forget a light hand because in terms of application it’s all about making bold moves like Rowi Singh’s out-there take on eyeliner, Doja Cat’s monochromatic, blown-out eyeshadow look and Steff London’s magenta-hued brow and lid combo.

Peek-a-boo pink

If the idea of plastering colour on your face does freak you out though, that’s okay because we’ve got lewks for you too. Try an easy-to-pull-off, lash-lining flash of pink like Perrie Edwards, Zara Larsson and Dua Lipa.

The peek-a-boo pink vibes don’t stop there, either. Sophie Turner reminded us of the everlasting cool of a rose gold pink eyeshadow, when she showed up hand in hand with husband Joe Jonas at the Louis Vuitton Womenswear F/W 2022 runway show in Paris.

Italian shoe designer Amina Muaddi just made us rethink how we wear pink eye makeup, serving this stunning look at Milan fashion week over the weekend. The peek-a-boo pop of pink, created by makeup artist @mrdanielmakeup, added some unexpected drama to her otherwise classic glam cat eye makeup, and honestly, we’re obsessed. As if this woman wasn’t beautiful enough, now her deep brown peepers are being perfectly accented by a knockout hue of neon rose liner.

Pinky nudes

Tone down and trade in any electric shades of pink for peachy, pinky-nudes that add a subtle pop of pastel-ised colour. Try an opaque peachy glitter like Jodie Turner Smith, a pinky nude-hued soft glam moment like Samara Weaving or a wash of burnished peach shadow like Jade Thirlwall. Too easy.

Love a bold eyeshadow moment? Try green eye makeup: The trend we never thought we'd get behind.
