Loved this scrub
Thank you ReviewCrew and A’kin for the opportunity to trial this product.
I was so excited to trial this scalp scrub. I’ve tried a few different ones before but had yet to find one I really loved. I have to say, this scalp scrub by A’kin comes pretty close. I absolutely love the orange and mandarin scent, it is devine and so uplifting. I’ve had an itchy scalp for the longest time and nothing that I’ve used has seemed to help so I was incredibly pleased after the first use to notice that the itchiness of my scalp was dramatically reduced.
The only negatives I found were that it was a bit tricky to apply the scrub, the consistency is thinner than I am used to and it took a few tries to figure out the best application method. The other negative for me was the product size, I felt it was too small and really would love a bigger volume.
Overall, I was so happy with this scrub and will recommend it to everyone. This has definitely become a staple in my haircare routine.
I absolutely fell in love with the scent of the scrub, which instantly won me over.
The packaging of scrub is extremely functional and can distribute the amount required for your usage. For my self, I found it a little hard to part my bloody hair in the shower to apply the scrub 100% correctly. But I finally got the hand of it after a week and got the product in my scalp to scrub and found my scalp felt refresh and smelt amazing.
My scalp definitely felt super soft as well. I would highly recommend this product to refresh your hair from products, oil build up and just to give your scalp a good scrub clean feel.
I will definitely be purchasing this scrub again once I finish this tube :)
Thank you BEAUTYcrew for the providing the opportunity to trial "A’kin Purifying Scalp Revival Scrub".
This is my first time using a Scalp Scrub, and I really enjoyed incorporating it as part of my haircare regime.
This scrub was a gel-like consistency, containing micro-beads that gently exfoliated and pre-cleansed my scalp, in preparation of shampoo and conditioner.
I decanted pea-sized portions of this scrub, "tapping" and spreading the gel across the tips of my fingers, then applied it onto the roots of my part.
I repeated this method a few times, using my fingers to seperate my hair and expose a different part of my scalp (approximately an inch between sections.)
After distributing: I used my fingers to make small, circular motions, massaging the product into my scalp.
This produced a light lather, sparking the idea to incorporate my silicone shampoo/scalp brush - although this was not "needed" in order to achieve exfoliation.
The bamboo extract aided in desquamation of dandruff, product build-up, and removing excess sebum/oils.
I believe that the jojoba and Australian avocado oils helped replenish the scalp -- and hair -- so that it wasn't "stripped" of moisture (leading the skin/scalp to produce more oil, in compensation of the lost hydration.)
Soothing aloe vera most likely gave this scrub the "gooey" texture.
Geranium smells sweet and citrusy, which aromatically uplifts; a nice touch to complement the other sensory aspects of this product.
With all that said...
I would have preferred if the tube had a "flip-lid", as I find them to be more convenient than unscrewing and re-closing a seperate/detachable lid.
(A suggestion for the future, if looking to innovate the packaging!)
I received this product at the perfect time as I was having issues with my scalp being dry and flakey (potentially due to weather change). First time using it, I noticed that it really cleansed and detoxified my scalp leaving it really clean, with no build up and my hair still soft and smooth. Love that it's a natural product with a nice scent!
I wouldn't use this more than once a week though as I noticed when I used it twice it made my scalp oily very quickly. Paired it with the shampoo which was a good combo, leaving my hair clean and shiny
I liked this scalp scrub alot. However, there were times when i used this on my very thick hair, and i would try and wash out all the scrub pieces, but they would constantly be stuck in my hair. Even after shampooing I would still have to really scrub those pieces tangled up in my hair to get them out.
That was the only downfall of this product.
I did think it did a good job removing product build up and helped my dry scalp though.
So i would definitely recommend this to someone who struggles with scalp build up, dry scalp and possibly dandruff as well.
Clean citrus smell
First thing I noticed is its clean and refreshing citrus smell. I was initially surprised to see the little beads as I’ve never seen or tried anything like this before. The scrub felt good on my scalp and helped got rid of some build up. I followed the instruction and used it before shampooing. Although, it had mini beads it wasn’t too rough on my scalp. However, I felt it took a bit of time to fully rinse it off. The scrub also helped with my oily scalp because my scalp felt refreshing after. My hair thick medium length and I had to use quite a bit to feel like I have enough.
I will persist... it could be worth it
I am not sure about this one. Scalp scrubs make me nervous because I have very thin that falls out all the time so I hesitate before being super vigorous with anything on my scalp. That being said, this one has no nasties in it and so I know it is good for my scalp. I did give it my best shot but I don't know that it really improve all the gunk and oil build up on my scalp. I did once have a hairdresser tell me that it is all that gunk build up that causes my hair to fall out so much so I will persist with this in the hopes of long term benefits. It also smells nice, which counts for a lot.
When I first opened the a’kin purifying scalp scrub, the smell was absolutely amazing, lovely fragrance, reminded me of expensive spa products, I used the scrub a few times in a fortnight, it worked too well, my scalp and hair was very dry after, I had to use lots of conditioner afterwards. I do have very thin hair and maybe that was the reason, but in saying that the A’kin conditioner was so good that it it worked out in the end.
I also found it difficult to get all the grainy stuff out of my hair and I couldn’t get it completely out, still felt it the next day, could be user error
The smell is fantastic and I would use is occasionally, but with my hair I think it would only be once a month or so as I don’t want too dry out my hair too much.
My daughter has thick hair and she said it worked well for her and she also loved the smell.
Will keep it in the shower for other members of my family
A’kin Purifying Scalp Revival Scrub
I have never really used a scalp scrub before and was a bit sceptical as I was worried this would intensify a dry or itchy scalp. It was tricky to apply to the scalp and you need to make sure you've thoroughly rinsed the product out before continuing your hair care routine.
It did give my scalp and overall clean and fresh feeling however I didn't notice a signifiant difference. It is a nice treat to occasionally feel like you're having that at home spa experience. I will continue to use this to see if the effects are more noticeable with use.
Effective scrub cleanser for a flaky scalp
I have an oily scalp that tends to get flaky/itchy.
I have used this once to twice a week for 3 weeks.
I have enjoyed the scrub, I felt it helped deep clean and lift the flaky skin as part of my hair washing routine.
I wouldn't think more than once a week is necessary and the tube is still going as a little goes a long way.
Scent is pleasant, and the texture is grainy enough it feels like it's working.
My hair definitely enjoyed the additional attention and can only assume hair growth might improve by removing product build up and stimulating the hair follicle.
Used it with the partnered shampoo and conditioner. I did completely drop all other hair cleaning products. I feel it was very effective to manage my tresses.
Lovely smell, light exfoliation
I’m a big fan of scalp scrubs so I was excited to try this product. Unfortunately it didnt live up to my favorite Christophe Robin as the texture was more gel like with small small sugar like granules. However, it was pretty on par with other drug store scalp scrubs I have tried and still had some exfoliation properties so it was ok for the price. The best thing about this product is the smell which was herbal without being too overpowering. The tube also made this product much easier to use than scrubs that are in tubs. And of course the price is a lot more affordable than Christophe Robin
Interesting but not sure I'm convinced
I reviewed the A’kin Purifying Scalp Revival Scrub as a part of the review trial and I honestly had never used/thought to use a product like this before.
The first thing that stood out to me overall was the texture, living up to its name as a scrub, I found it somewhat difficult to work into my scalp. It felt kind of awkward, and took a fair bit of work to get in and then, wash out.
Having said this, I did see a difference in my scalp overall. I suffer from psoriasis so I am cautious about what products I use as this can sometimes cause it to worsen. In this case, it didn't and my scalp did feel overall, cleaner and healthier. Used in conjunction with the shampoo and conditioner, I did see a massive improvement, but I am not convinced this was credited to this wash alone.
Amazing head scrub
This product was amazing. I have never used a scrub on my head before but I have been converted. I always seem to produce a lot of oil in my hair which results in having to wash my hair every second day which can take its toll on my hair. It made my head and hair feel so great and it just washed the oil out that had build up. I highly recommend it to others. It smelt so good as well and I love that it’s Australian made and owned and is against animal testing. It was simple to use and I just used it twice a week before I did the shampoo and condition of my hair. It made my hair feel softer and look much nicer as well.
Amazing scent and deep clean! Great product.
I was excited to try this product as I have fine, oily hair and have always struggled to stick to a product as I find most shampoos and conditioners build up over time. This is a pre wash treatment and it worked really well. You can choose to just use a little or use a lot more and have a really deep scrub. The texture is a bit like sugar scrub and it feels very relaxing to massage in.
Scalp and hair feel very refreshed afterwards and my clean hair lasted a few days longer too. Easy to use and smells amazing.
I’d recommend this product to anyone, it smells amazing and my hair definitely felt like it’d had a deep clean.
Not my thing
Have been using the A’kin Purifying Scalp Revival Scrub for a few weeks now and I love how it smells, the Orange and Mandarin scent is just so refreshing! Not sure I would buy this product though as I don’t think I would use it frequently enough and will probably be just another product, amongst my million others sitting in my cabinet. I’m a busy working mom and I just don’t have enough time to add this as an extra step in my beauty routine. I wouldn’t say that I saw a huge difference in reducing product buildup, I don’t really use any product on my hair anyway so that’s probably why? The beads were also a bit hard to get out of my long hair and it ended up being quite frustrating towards the end. It does smell great though and it’s prob more worthwhile for those who actually need exfoliation for their scalp - I will prob give it to hubby who uses a lot of products in his hair
A decent, well priced scrub
I had been keen to try a scalp scrub and this seems to be one of the more affordable options. The lemongrass smell is great and the texture is similar to a body scrub - feels like it’s adding moisture while scrubbing the dead skin away. The scrub bits are small and gentle. I was worried that it wouldn’t completely wash out of my long hair but shampooing twice seemed to do it. My scalp felt cleansed after, however I’ve noticed more flakiness in the days after having used it. I’ve only used the scrub once so maybe this will reduce after a few uses.
The A’kin Purifying Scalp Revival Scrub smelled great, and assisted with the removal of buildup on my scalp.
My hair tangles quite easily, and I found it a little difficult to apply. I also found it difficult to rinse out, and had little beads all through my hair for a few days after use.
However, it does work and it smells really good. I would recommend it to anyone looking to try a scalp scrub. I personally have limited my use of it to once a fortnight, just because I don’t like the texture of the beads left behind in my hair.
I was pleasantly surprised with the A’kin Purifying Scalp Revival Scrub which I used pre-shampoo. I felt like it really cleaned my scalp away from any product build-up from hairspray and flakes. I especially loved how it was enriched with jojoba and Australian avocado oils,
The smell was very pleasant and combined with the Akin purifying shampoo and conditioner - I felt like my scalp not only felt cleaned but my hair was soft to the touch.
The one thing I didn't like was the little beads - I understand that it is supposed to be for exfoliation but I felt I really need to make sure every little bead was washed away and there was nothing remaining.
A pre-shampoo treatment is a very new idea to me and I am pleasantly surprised by this scalp scrub. It has a very nice scent, smelling very light and refreshing. Texture-wise, it is gel-like with little beads in them, just like a body exfoliator. To use this product, you have to part your hair at the scalp as best as you can then rub the scrub in in small circular motions. Personally, I find this a little hard to do on my own, and end up using quite a bit of the product in one go. It will probably be easier and works better if you have someone that can apply it for you, like having a mini hair spa session at home. The scrub does exfoliate and cleanse the scalp very well. I can definitely notice that my hair feels lighter and cleaner on days that I use this scrub. I have enjoyed using this product and would recommend it to anyone looking for a pre-shampoo treatment.
A nice spa treatment at home
I have never used a product like this, but I was pleasantly surprised! It is designed as a pre-shampoo product that you use once or twice a week to get rid of oil and build up.
The scrub contains small little beads that you massage into your scalp in circular motions. It does not lather much, but it definitely feels like a deep clean.
This product is a luxurious nice-to-have, but not a necessity. If you are looking for an extra step to feel like you are at a spa, this is the product for you.
