Makes it easy to add sunscreen to your routine

Firstly, I have to say I am so glad that there's a lot more choice of high protection sunscreen now and that sunscreens with an SPF50 + are the norm. Of course there is a lot of variation in quality and texture also, but Eau Thermale Avene is well-known for their skincare, so I was happy to try this emulsion when I first saw it. I was looking for good coverage with a matte consistency to wear under make-up and no white caste. The sunscreen has a pump applicator, is light and easy to apply and covers my whole face and neck with one quick application. It gives a nice matte, non-shiny appearance and goes so nicely under make-up. It does unfortunately show a very light white caste but this can easily be blended in. The scent is quite mild, rather like skincare, which is another plus for me. Avene do make it easy to incorporate sunscreen into your skin routine. The slight white caste that requires more blending is the only drawback, and I do prefer Avene's Tinted Cream for this reason - hence only 4 stars. Still a good product I will repurchase.

Ok but not outstanding

I had high expectations of this face sunscreen as it was from a reputable french brand. It contains a mix of physical (titanium dioxide) and chemical filters (Octocylene, Methylene Bis-Benzotriazolyl, Tetramethylbutylphenol). and water resistance of 40 minutes. I have a light skin tone and it looks ok on me even though I can tell that there is a slight white cast. This may be a problem for darker skin tones. It does have quite a strong fragrance that reminds me of the Nivea's Shine Control face sunscreen. The texture is light and non-greasy, and it absorbs and dries down quite well. It doesn't cause make-up to pull. However, I find that it does have a slight stickiness to it and in the middle of a hot day, my face does become oily. It's not the most elegant face sunscreen that I've used. There are better and cheaper face sunscreens like Cancer Council matte or Natio Daily defence that are made in Australia. Not a repurchase for me.
