With such a clever idea concept behind it , I was intrigued and excited to give it a go.
The application was easy enough and interesting to see the product react with water. For the first week to two weeks I didn’t mind it as I only used once a week. My skin felt soft and pores less visible but then I started to notice some more redness on my cheeks.
I did continue to use the product but just through my tzone and only once a week.
If you have any skin sensitivity I would highly recommend patch testing first.
I really like this product! I have used the Biore brand for a long time and this does not disappoint. Its a very deep cleansing product that leaves my skin feeling really clean, fresh and with a nice glow to it. I also love that it doesn't irritate my skin at all.
This is a dirt cheap, economical, everyday and easy-to-use exfoliant for those who need that extra somethin' somethin' in their skincare routines. This exfoliant is seriously fresh, with that menthol hit that never fails to wake you up. After use, your skin feels silky (I love that feeling). Just be careful not to breathe it in! Great for those of us on a budget, and the flip-top is genius, especially for when you have wet hands.
This has been a recent favourite and daily go-to. I have incredibly oily skin and large pores so this product intrigued me. I've been using this for a month now and believe it does cleanse my skin really well without being too harsh. After splashing some water on my skin, I dry my hands and pour a 5 cent coin sized amount in my hand and gently scrub. I like how it activates on my skin, slightly foams up and becomes a paste, it opens my pores and exfoliates my skin without being to rough. It is easy to wash off and doesn't have a messy applicator, it's simply a pour spout so remains hygienic. My skin has never felt so soft and scrub a dub clean, it does dry out my skin slightly but with my oily skin it's not a huge issue - it's my personal preference and I love this product.
I was so intrigued by this product. I used to mix baking soda and lemon juice to help remove blackheads as a teen, so this product seemed like the grown up version of my home made remedy. I liked that the powder is very fine and that you can add as much water to it as you like to get a consistency that you are comfortable with. The powder is so fine that when applied as an exfoliant it doesn't feel too abrasive and is comfortable to use. I also enjoyed that after rinsing and removing this product that my skin felt noticably softer and that the oiliness seemed to disappear. My skin did feel a little on the drier side, and although my skin was a little more refined, my pores less visible, I didn't seem to notice much of a change in the appearance of blackheads. Still, I like this product, its very well priced and has a few positives, but I just don't love this product as it doesn't do everything that I had hoped it would and didn't match up to other products that I have used in the past.
Whiteheads and blackheads are the bane of my skin's existence. So any product that promises deep cleansing is ok by me. The Biore baking soda cleanser is a thorough and effective way to completely clean your skin, It is gentle to use, but I do find it a little drying if used more than once or twice a week.
The product is dispensed as a powder which you then mix in your hand with a bit of water to form a paste. It can be a little messy, and if you don't mix will enough you may well inhale a bit too. Not that pleasant! After use though, my skin feels so much smoother, and any serum or moisturiser I then apply sinks straight in.
I was so exuding this scrub, I have sensitive skin with oily t zone and large pores so I thought this was made for me. Unfortunately within a few seconds of applying my skin was on fire and an hour later my skin was still red and inflamed. I do t know how effective this scrub actually is but if you have sensitive skin this is not for you.

If you have sensitive skin, but also acne prone skin with a shiny t-zone susceptible to blackheads and whiteheads, this scrub definitely helps clean you up. I was worried it might be too harsh but it feels like it gives a deep clean and even reduces shine on my forehead and chin. I noticed less breakouts following a few weeks of using it. Overall, it’s a good clean.
I've only started using this product recently, but the results have exceeded expectations. Prior to it, I've tried several scrubs from nearly all price points.
I tend to have whiteheads on my chin, and whenever I'm writing, I have this awful habit of mindlessly touching them. Not only is this a terrible habit, but as you know, nothing good ever comes out of touching your face like that. On several occasions, this has resulted into inflamed, blotchy skin - quite impossible to hide and really depressing to look at. Since I started using this product, the whiteheads have disappeared! I was worried about its potential to strip my skin too much, so I only targeted the oily portions of my face. In those areas, this has been not as harsh as I initially thought it would be - it cleaned my skin, without leaving it stripped or dry.
I understand it's not for everyone, but if you struggle with oiliness, then this is definitely worth considering. Having it on my routine has added a layer of exfoliation that I really think is responsible for addressing my whiteheads-on-chin problem, and for that, I cannot recommend it enough for those who suffer from the same problem. I really wish I had known about this much earlier, and definitely this has been quite a revelation!
I usually use chemical exfoliators, so I was interested to try this. However, I found it really dried out my skin and made it feel quite tight. Though my skin did feel smoother and softer, I also felt it was a bit harsh and abrasive.
It is a good quality bottle and I think the way it works can be a novelty, but it just didn't work for my skin - I think people with sensitive or dry skin should give it a miss.
Convenient and effective! Just as the product describes, the powdered formula turns into an exfoliating scrub when you add water. The product lathers up extremely quickly and easily, making it perfect for nights where you can't wait to remove your makeup and hop in bed! When massaging the product on my face, I can feel small beads however they are not too harsh to aggravate my sensitive skin, and do a great job at removing any extra dirt left over from my makeup. My skin feels tight and clean afterwards, and using this product has also helped in evening my skin tone. I only use this scrub about 3 times a week and I take it travelling wherever I go because I don't have to worry about those annoying leaking liquids!
I have never used a powder scrub before so was interested in trying Bioré Baking Soda Scrub. It comes in powder form in a cleverly designed handy little bottle that is easy to dispense. It has a nice scent, like lemons. To activate the scrub, you mix it with a bit of water in the palm of your hand and the powder starts to foam up and turn into a paste and is ready to apply to your skin. It is quite gentle on the skin because it starts to dissolve as you rub in on your face so you can't really over exfoliate and you can use it everyday without doing harm to your skin. This scrub is also suitable for people with sensitive skin because you can control how much you want to use.
The scrub is great at exfoliating your skin and removing the dead skin cells as well as unblocking your pores. It also removes make up well and gives your face a good cleansing too, removing impurities and oil from your skin. After a couple of weeks of daily use, my skin feels really soft and fresh and looks really nice, smoother and softer, clearer and brighter. I thought the baking soda might be very drying on my skin and leave it feeling tight but it didn't happen, my face was fine and my skin didn't feel uncomfortable. Afterwards I always apply a good moisturiser. I really like this product and will continue to buy and use in the future as I found it works great on my skin.
This is a great little product that is affordable, unique and has the fun factor. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes a gentle exfoliater that isn't harsh on your skin. This product would benefit oily/combination the best but is also suitable for other skin types too.
I really like this baking soda gentle scrub. It is easy to use and very easy to travel with because it is not liquid and the only thing you will need is a little bit of water. The best thing is the baking soda is very gentle and it gives your face a very nice cleanse and leave your skin very smooth afterwards as well. It is an amazing product and I will definitely keep using it! Highly recommend this product to everyone with all kinds of skin type.
This facial scrub is great for combination skin; oily but dry. It helps to exfoliate dry flaky skin and cleanse pores without leaving the skin feeling tight or rough. Along with the use of Buore Charcoal cleanser and pore strips, this works well to help prevent breakouts and skin flakes. I love it and will continue using it
I tried this biore baking soda scrub from the marie claire parcel. I found it to be a great facial scrub for sensitive skin as it is really gentle and not irritating, it exfoliates gently but effectively and deep cleans pores, removes oil, dirt, dead skin cells and rejuvenates, leaving skin supersoft and looking radiant. this is a fine powder scrub that is super gentle as opposed to some grainy scrubs so will not irritate skin. this product is easy to use, just tip powder through the small hole (great for not causing mess) onto damp hands to make a paste, rub on face and rise off clear, couldn't be easier. this scrub will not dry skin, yet it controls oil with its baking soda action, a big bonus, I really love this scrub and would certainly recommend it, especially for sensitive skin
I try not to use typical scrubs as I think my skin gets enough exfoliation with all the acids I use on it, however, since that product was sent in the Marie Claire Parcel I decided to give it a go, because why not?
The packaging is really well designed, easy to use "push" button, the formula looks exactly like baking soda, just white powder, the scrub has a nice citrusy scent, not overpowering but adding to the cleansing experience for sure. Upon contact with water, the powder is activated and starts to bubble. It does feel a bit funny on the face at first, might tickle a little, but all in all, the experience it pleasant. Morever, the scrub has a cooling effect so it is perfect to use in warmer weather just to get that feeling of freshness. I must add that the scrub gets really slippery when we rinse it off, some time must be definitely devoted to remove it from the face. Skin feels clean, smooth and soft, but it might feel a bit tight and in my opinion those with sensitive skin might find this product too harsh.
I would use this product as a once/twice weekly scrub to polish the skin before some treatments.
This baking soda scrub might work as Dermalogica's daily/ super foliants dupe on condition your skin doesn't react to it.
For anyone who is unsure of facial exfoliating, this scrub is the place to start! It is super gentle and easy to use and you can make it less coarse if your skin is more sensitive. I think that is one of the best things about powder scrubs, is that you can adjust it to suit how serious you want your scrubbing to be. You simply pour a little of the powder onto damp hands, mix into a paste and then gentle massage onto your face. It will cleanse and remove make up, while gently exfoliating away dry skin and dirt. I've never used a baking soda product before but I have found that it really gets into your pores and leaves you feeling clean and your pores refreshed.
I would compare this to the Dermalogica daily exfoliant, but I would say that I enjoy the Biore much more.
Would recommend for anyone who is uncertain of facial exfoliants, or who enjoy a good gentle exfoliation.
When I received the Biore Baking Soda Cleansing Scrub in a former Parcel and saw it was for Combination skin, I thought for sure this is one I would be passing on. My normal to dry skin has never done well with known combination- friendly products (looking at you Liquid Gold) so I did not hold out high hopes for this scrub. I usually associate scrubs with oily or acne-prone skin. I am happy to report, for all those other normal-to-dry types out there, that Biore Baking Soda Scrub is very much a workable product for you!
I took the advice about a potential drying effect seriously and only used it once a week, but this is normal usage for me with most masks or scrubs. The fact that you can dispense the powder and then control the consistency with the amount of water you add, allows you to customise the product to your needs. This is especially important when you actually want a mild micro-exfoliant rather than a scrub as such, and that’s exactly what I created – a nice creamy, foamy consistency with just a little water. I just smoothed and massaged it over my face – definitely no scrubbing needed - and then rinsed off fairly quickly. It had a fresh, slightly lemony scent, not surprisingly as lemon essence is one of the ingredients. My skin felt really smooth and soft afterwards, not dry at all, and there was no redness afterward. I notice it contains no glycolic acid which is usually when I feel a bad reaction.
The only negative effect was in the corners next to my nose where the pores may be larger – I found that it stung a little in that area, so I just avoid it. There is also a slight residue on my skin after rinsing, but this is easily removed with a sweep of toner, and again this is something I usually do after most masks.
The packaging has a clever opening method - with the push-button lid it is super-easy to open one-handed in the shower, and the wide cap keeps it dry ( my initial fear that it would get wet and clumpy in the shower came to nothing). There is no mess when you squeeze a small amount in one hand and add a trickle of water with the other! The generous size of product I received (125 g) means that it will last me for ages, as I only need a little at a time, and at such a reasonable price, only $10.99, it will be easy to repurchase.
So I have certainly learnt from this a) not to dismiss a product without trying it first, and b) that in beauty, the ingredients may be more important than the title!
I would recommend this product for most skin types but use the product’s adjustability to make it work for you.
Pros- Clever packaging.
Can adjust the product to suit you.
Fresh, mild scent.
Smoother, refined skin.
Cons- Can sting on very sensitive areas.
Works better when followed by a toner.
The Bioré Baking Soda Scrub is a powder formula thatgently cleanses your skin. I received this product in The Parcel and I use itonce a week as an exfoliate but it can be used daily as a cleanser. The powderformula when mixed with water forms a foam texture that is smooth and gently onyour, rinse it off with warm water and pat dry, it isn’t harsh but leaves itfeeling fresh and bright. I love thebottom the product comes in, it has a great flip top that clicks back intoplace and isn’t messy to use. The consistency of the amount you need is perfect as it is in a powder form you don’tneed much and you can easier control the amount you dispense. I don’t get breakouts but I love using thisproduct to give my skin and extra cleanser and exfoliate that is gently on myskin which can be sensitive.
I have a combination skin and this soda scrub is perfect for my oily T-Zone. It has nice texture and when you rub it in your skin it turns into creamy scrub. It is gentle but I prefer not to use it on my dry parts of the face. I would recommend it for those with oily skin.
