Natural looking hair colour
This permanent hair colour has a good colour range available to suit most people’s needs. I used the shade 5 Medium Brown. This hair colour blend was quick and easy to apply. The colour result gives a full and even coverage. It gave my hair colour some subtle tones and highlights which looks much more natural than just the one flat overall colour I have gotten with other at home packet hair dyes I’ve used in the past. It works really well to cover those pesky grey hairs too. This is an impressive hair dye which delivers a great colour result and leaves my hair feeling soft and nourished.
At $12.99 it is very good value for money. I would recommend this at home hair colour to anyone looking for an affordable, easy to use hair dye that gives a lovely colour result.
Good grey coverage
I received color light brown to try. I have used light brown hair dye in various brands for a number of years. I found the instructions straight forward and easy to follow. The scent was typical of hair dye, make sure you’re in a ventilated space when using.
Once applied I left on for 30 minutes and rinsed out. I noticed that I did have quite a bit of staining around the hairline which took a few days to disappear. Haven’t experienced this with other brands. After rinsing I applied the conditioner for a few minutes. My hair felt soft and hydrated. I loved the conditioner and will continue to use remainder of tube.
The light brown is quite a golden brown, it covered greys well.
I would use again but maybe in a different shade as the light brown shade is too warm for what I normally prefer.
Uniform natural looking (born with it) colour
I've used Clairol nice'n'easy many times before. I have used boxed die my whole life really. This brand is priced very reasonably and they are pretty much fool proof. The range is very natural looking, that's what I love about the range. If I want something a bit more striking I'll usually go with another brand. I used 8WR natural golden auburn and the results were a really natural looking pretty warmish copper very similar to the box. My previous hair colour was a warm light brown. I had previously used a copper on my hair and it had mostly washed out by the time I used this. I love that this is really quick to mix and apply, the directions are easy and the results are always soft rich hair with uniform colour. My hair is quite fine and below shoulder length so one box was just enough for me. I'd say if you have quite thick hair and below shoulder length you might want to get 2 boxes just to ensure the results turn out really even. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for natural results that look like you haven't coloured it. When looking at the range it's not hard to pick a colour as they are all natural and pretty, not crazy colours. In comparison to other hair dies this one is just as easy to use as other boxed hair colours, it does tend to have quite a strong smell to it when applying so do it in a ventilated room. Also it's a bit of a thinner formula so does distribute very easily but can drip as well.
Beautiful and simple!
This product is brilliant! Easy to use and apply.
I had dyed my hair with another product with less than desired results.
The clairol completely covered my mistake.
My hair is very long and I was worried it wouldn't be enough.
I shouldn't have worried. My long hair is beautifully burgundy from scalp to ends. It is shiny and manageable.
Easy to use
Have coloured my hair many times before over the years, I do recommend using a brush as blends better then just applying colour along the root line as easy to miss areas that you can't see. The product is easy to use especially mixing from bottle 1 into bottle 2 whereas some other brands only have a tube that can be difficult getting all out. I would not recommend leaving on for more then 10 minutes as can ruin your hair then wash completely off. The conditioner does leave your hair soft afterwards. Not as good as going to a hairdresser though as colour does not last as long but if you are only going to colour yourself is a perfectly good product to use.
Loving the colour result.
I received the Clairol Nice'n Easy in 8CB - Medium Champagne Blonde as part of a reviewcrew trial. This is a permanent hair colour.
My hair is naturally dark brown but I have been colouring it lighter for as long as I can remember and have been doing it myself for the last four years at least. The last time I coloured my hair was over three months ago. I have just past my shoulders curly, dry hair. Any longer than past the shoulder blade, I would recommend two boxes.
In the box comes the "how to" instruction pamphlet, which has a sticker seal. Inside the pamphlet is the better than the usual "fruit and vegetable bag" style gloves but still a little small for me. The 58mls of colour blend formula is poured into the colour blend activator bottle (which has 58ml so all up its about 116mls of product). After shaking the tip of the bottle is snapped off.
Instructions say to use on dry and unwashed hair which I prefer, it lets me easily see any areas I've missed. I applied around my face and my roots first. I did not wait for it to develop but immediately did my lengths and ends. I had no drips. It does smell stronger than other brands I have used and stung my eyes a little but it was bearable. There is a little tingling but that is to be expected. Any residue on my face washed off with no staining.
The 57ml colour seal conditioner provided is a thick slippery white and smells like coconut/strawberry medicine. There is enough there for quite a few applications.
I tend to throw red when I lighten my hair so I have to be careful in picking ashy hair dyes. I'm really happy with the resulting colour, it's like a dark caramel, next time I'll probably leave it on a little longer. I left it on for about 25 minutes after I had finished applying. Although it didn't completely cover all my greys, I can count on one hand how many are still visible and even then they blend in with my colour.
My hair seems drier but thats probably because of the higher ratio of hydrogen peroxide so I would recommend using a hair mask once a week but it's too early to comment on longevity of colour.
Thankyou Clairol and BC for inviting me to trial.
I am very happy with the outcome after using Clairol Nice'n Easy Dark Brown colour. The result was very impressive as all my regrowth and even the stubborn little hair on my forehead were finally covered.... I won this battle I should say.
It was very easy to follow the instructions and the shine it provides to the hair is amazing.
I will absolutely recommend this product to anyone out there.
Great hair dye for the price
I received this hair dye to trial and really quite liked it. I'm always happy to try a hair dye that overs grey hairs, and is budget friendly, and this one ticked all the boxes.
I made up the dye as per the instructions and applied to the roots of my hair firstly, making sure I covered all the grey bits and left on for the stated amount of time.
There were no harsh chemical smells, which was nice too.
It is very easy to do this at home, so I would definitely use it between going to the hairdresser, especially through Covid times!
When I dried my hair after washing the dye out and conditioning, I was really impressed by the colour (a shiny light-ish brown.) My hair felt soft and I couldn't find any grey hairs, so I was really happy!
Overall, I was very impressed with the Clairol Nice n Easy hair dye and I would buy this again, especially between hairdresser appointments.
Fine for the short term
The product is easy to apply, and with so many shades I was spoiled for choice. I stuck with a dark brown as I wanted to get a feel for the longevity of the colour.
My hair felt shiny and soft after the application however the grey coverage is not holding as I would have liked and it has only been a week.
Even so, I would still consider using this product if I had to stretch it my regular salon appointment.
I have used this colour before and it is fantastic. It leaves your hair shiny and smooth. The overall coverage and colour is spot on. I used the 5 which is a medium brown. I'm naturally red so this is a good change. Easy to apply and wash out. I would definitely recommend to anyone who needs a change and to go to a nice brown shade without going to dark.
Left my hair shiny and soft
Super easy to mix and apply, the smell isn't great but I haven't found a hair dye yet that smells nice. Has great coverage and the excess rinsed out quickly and didn't stain my skin. The best thing is the conditioner as you get a really good amount so it can be used for numerous washes (And it smells like apricot...yum!!) The conditioner also comes in a tube with a lid as opposed to most dyes that come with a small sachet which is annoying to both open and get the product from. It left my hair really shiny and soft. Would definitely purchase this in the future.
Surprised by salon-worthy results at home!
This was my first time using at home permanent dye in over 15 years. I had recently used a semi-permanent 28 wash colour and this colour was just as easy. It spread easily and quickly as it was very viscous, not thick and sticky. It was easy to apply and get right into my roots, where most of my greys were appearing. I was pleasantly surprised that there was hardly any smell (I was expecting very strong ammonia scent like hair dyes I’d used in the past). I left it on my roots for 20 mins then spread to cover all of my hair then left for a further 20 minutes. I had no irritation on my scalp at any stage and I have quite sensitive skin. Left no stains on skin or ears too, but I did use a thick barrier cream.
I have shoulder length, straight, naturally dark brown hair with a few greys now appearing. My hair is fine but I have a lot of it (45 years). The medium brown left a lovely shiny dark brown finish. The colour is not too cool or too warm, which is exactly what I like. It’s very multi-dimensional, not flat. Excellent grey coverage. Much better than the semi—permanent colours I’d used previously. My hair felt very soft and well conditioned too. My greys were 100% gone and the texture of my greys was softened too. I was very happy with my colour selection.
The colour range is good (not extensive) and very accurate colour pictures are available online. It would be helpful if they also offered online the information they have on the actual box – the pictures of how each colour would appear on different tones of original hair colour.
Overall I was very pleased with the results. I was surprised at how quick and easy it was get to salon-worthy results at home for a fraction of the price. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone wanting a one-colour all over solution to grey coverage, especially those 40+. It would also suit anyone of any age looking for a fresh, healthy, shiny colour update or refresh.
Covers Greys beautifully
I’m not new to the world of home hair coloring, but have always had a lot of trouble getting the exact shade or colour that I was after. It was a real delight to find that the Clairol Nice’n Easy gave me pretty much exactly the shade on the box. For that alone, I would use this product again.
However, it also covered my grays very effectively, and blended the roots well with the rest of my hair color – it’s seamless. I’m really happy with how it looks. It promised a natural look with shades and highlights, and I feel like it delivered on that too. It’s subtle, but looks natural.
This was a very easy hair dye to use – simple instructions and packaging that was easy to manage. There wasn’t that nasty overpowering smell you get with some hair dyes. I didn’t notice a smell at all, in fact.
Overall, a great hair dye that does exactly what it promises, and does it well. I’ll use it again.
Matted hair and uneven colour, but overall good
I used colour 4.5RB (Reddish Brown) on my hair which is very fine and thin, oily scalp, dark brown, with some grey.
I followed the instructions for option B (never coloured, want to drastically change your current colour, or have not coloured in 3 months or longer). This meant applying the colour all over, and leaving it on for 25 minutes.
When I rinsed it off, my hair was completely matted, but the fantastic CC+ Conditioner that is included in the kit, unmatted my hair and left it looking very shiny. It is recommended that you keep using the CC+ Conditioner on a weekly basis. My hair has continued to matt whenever I wash it but my regular conditioner does allow it to untangle.
In addition, the colour closest to my scalp is much more vivid red than the rest of my hair which is a gorgeous, rich and natural looking reddish-brown.
Overall, I love the colour and how shiny my hair is at the moment. The big test with any red-based shade is whether it will turn brassy in a few weeks - only time will tell.
Clairol Nice nEasy
Very happy with product. I wash my hair first then towel dry before applying dye. Cover with shower cap then leave for 30 minutes. Then take shower cap off and rub dye around on scalp to even out the dye and keep it working. Apply shower cap and leave for another 10-15 minutes. Then wash and condition. This is the easiest way to do it on your own. Comes out exactly the colour is on box. All gorgeous.
Natural looking hair
I use nice'n easy 2 black for my hair few grey coverage.I have had generally positive experiences so far.The color i use fairly accurate to the box and the grey coverage is as promised. It blends really well with my hair. This product really easy to use and its quick and simple. It really brings my hair nice, shiny and fresh again. It is quite unusual with hair dies i use previously. It gives clear instruction of how to use the product step by step with pictures.Conditioning treatment is amazing. It leaves my hair healthy afterwards. This is definitely a product i would recommend for other people to use if you need bit of change of hair colour or you just want to get cover some of your grey hair.
Hair is smooth but not very intense
Easy to use, even for a novice such as myself. It has been a while since I last dyed my hair. However, it was fairly straight forward to use, and the dye does not stain your surfaces, it comes right off.
There is a nice range of colours, and since my hair was black/dark brown, I opted for dark burgundy. However, it was not intense enough and I can barely see the colour. It's very very subtle, and is only visible under the sun or bright lighting. In the beginning, my hair looked more like sunburnt scalp as my scalp was very red but the hair was not. Perhaps I chose the wrong colour? I have used burgundy dyes before and they seemed to be more intense and visible.
My hair did feel very soft and smooth afterwards. Ans the gloves were a good fit, not that cheap plastic oversized glove that you had to try and keep on during the process.
Easy to Use, Bargain Price, Great Colour
I am not a beginner at home hair colouring. My hair has been many different colours over the years.
I have used nice & easy in the past, but only for the brown shades.
For this review I tried 9.5 Extra Light Blonde.
My hair is naturally mousey brown and prior to using this it was bleached blonde with a good 2cm or regrowth.
Compared to the recommended colours on the pack I would say my hair is slightly darker.
The product is easy to use, put on the gloves and mix the 2 parts together.
One small issue I had is that the gloves are made for very skinny fingers.
The bottle with the nozzle was easy to apply directly to the roots avoiding coating the already bleached section of my hair. Because I was opting to lighten my hair to the maximum amount I added the extra 10 minutes onto the time (this is in the instructions). The smell was as to be expected when bleaching- stay outside if it is a bit strong. Then added I massaged in through all of my hair for an extra 5 min to blend before rinsing it out. It rinsed out easily and there is conditioner supplied in the pack. I was actually pleasantly surprised to see that my roots had lightened to the extent they had as I was expecting them to be quite orange from the colour guide on the packet. My roots were still a bit on the yellow side, but that will happen with any brand. This is easily fixed by buying toner (which I had some already). I am really happy with the result my roots blend seamlessly to the rest of my hair now and my hair has not been fried, after conditioning it looks and feels silky/ shiny. I would recommend and buy again as it is a bargain price and available at the supermarket.
Good grey coverage
This hair colouring product was easy to mix and use. It covered my stubborn greys and left my hair feeling soft. Great colour range. It would be better if the scent was more subtle. It did however have good grey coverage. Thank you for the opportunity to trial this product.
