First time using a scalp scrub
I have really thick hair that gets greasy very quickly, so I live for dry shampoo and other hydrating products, so I was really excited to use this scalp scrub - plus who doesn't love a head massage (it's the best part of a boujie trip to the hairdressers!). I initially wasn't really sure how to use this one effectively, and even with segmenting my hair felt like it wasn't really getting right to the roots and really exfoliating everything clean. I've tried it again a few times, experimenting with different amounts of the scrub (definitely need more than you think), but it comes with heaps of product which I was pleasantly surprised with. Such value!
My hair did smell fresh and clean, but I don't think I really got the value of the scrub and the exfoliated scalp that I assumed I would, which was disappointing, but if you have quite thin hair then I can see it being much more beneficial.
Sukin Naturals Balance Scalp Scrub
As someone who has never used a scalp scrub before it was a pretty daunting thought and seemed a little confusing. However after giving this a try I was rather impressed. I often exercise a lot which means i need to wash my hair more often or use products like dry shampoo for those in between days and i had never really thought about product build up before. It could seem quite confusing to people if you do not normally give your hair many treatments however this felt like I was doing a mini treatment. After trying it I did feel like my scalp felt much cleaner and my hair felt less weighed down and heavy overall. It is a good product to incorporate into your hair routine even if you only do it once a week just to give your hair a bit of a detox and super clean so you’re able to absorb other products better.
If you haven't tried this, you're missing out!
This is my favourite product of the Sukin Natural Balance range. It is like a combination of a massage and deep exfoliation for your scalp. The results are shinier hair, healthier looking and feeling hair and a nice clean scalp!
I use this product once per week to shed product build-up and unsightly dry skin. Using dry shampoo, other miscellaneous styling products and exercising a few times per week, I find my scalp can have a lot of residue built up by the end of the week. Sukin Natural Balance Scalp Scrub gently and effectively exfoliates and leaves me feeling fresh and clean.
save your money
I don't understand a need for a product like this. With long, thick, wavy hair this has hardly made it's way to my scalp. I usually use a silicone brush to give my scalp good scrub and I've never seen a need for a product like this.
The texture was slightly offputting as it felt like I've had buc=nch of sand in my hair, not the best feeling in the world.
The best thing about this product is the fresh, minty scent.
I ended up using it few timed around my hairline but didn't notice any benefits. This is something that is non-essential in my hair care and I would not choose to purchase this product. I can't see how this would benefit anyone in any more effective way than a simple silicone scalp brush would.
This is the first scalp scrub I have tried. I was excited to see what this would do for my psoriasis prone scalp.
I have long hair so I was concerned with how I would section of off and i was also worried about having grains left over. But i didn't have issues with either. My hair doesn't like heavy products so im careful with what I use.
I dont feel it left my scalp any cleaner though, I enjoyed the smell. I probably wouldn't go and purchase it again though. I was hoping it would help with my hair woes.
Time consuming but worth it
I've never used a scalp scrub before and if it wasn't so time-consuming I'd do it every day! Absolutely love it. Even though it took me way too long to get through my thick hair. I've used it once a week and feel my scalp stays cleaner for longer and feels super fresh straight after. Might be placebo because I've never used a scrub before but I'm a fan! But, again, it takes sooooo long. You have to section your hair and massage through each section before rinsing and shampooing/conditioning so just make sure you schedule a long shower.
Beautiful natural product
I had never used a scalp scrub prior to trying this Sukin product.
I was pleasantly surprised with this product! My post-partum hair is unpredictable at best, so it was really nice to have a good exfoliation and feel that my head was super soft. It was slightly time consuming however, I don't think it's realistic to be adding this into the regular hair routine, perhaps every couple of weeks. Irrespective of this, it is a beautiful natural product, which smells amazing and had positive results.
Scalp scrub, squeaky clean!
I plan my hair washes around my gym visits so you can imagine I get quite sweaty. I love the idea of a scalp scrub and was very excited to trial this one. I would imagine that there is quite a bit of buildup especially with use of dry shampoo etc to curve oil buildup so I was interested to see the effectiveness of this!
It had a nice mint scent to it and I loved that it was a squeeze bottle. It was easy to dispense and work into the scalp with a little warm water.
I loved a scalp massage whilst working this in and did it for about 60 seconds.
Whilst I'm unsure of the effectiveness of this products I did enjoy using it and will continue to do so.
Great ingredients but not that effective
I was very excited to try this product as I have used many scalp scrubs in the past and loved the clean ingredients with Sukin. Scalp scrubs can be challenging to use and get throughout the hair but this one I felt the product thinned out quite a bit when applied making it less exfoliating. I could still feel the build up in my hair after using the product.
I really liked the fact that the scrub comes out of a squeezey tube and not a jar with a lid as it was super easy to get the product out and use. The scent is also a plus for this product as the key natural ingredients are very present but not overbearing.
While I liked the scent, ingredients and packaging, I wouldn't buy this product again due to the reside remaining after use.
Great for dry shampoo abusers
As a frequent gym-goer my hair is a constant bundle of sweat, sweat and dry shampoo. I had never considered using a scalp scrub however I am so glad I was sen this because I now realise that my regular shampoo was only doing my hair and not actually exfoliating the skin on my scalp.
After using this product my whole scalp felt genuinely clean and the experience itself of exfoliating your scalp is quite pleasant. The ingredient in this scrub is mint and it is super refreshing with a great smell.
I highly recommend this product. Note: my hair type is colour treated and quite thing and damaged.
the product you didn't know you needed
Before receiving this product, I had never considered using a hair scrub. It's basically an exfoliator for your hair, and is a great addition into a hair care routine. I only used it once a week, as I don't use too many hair products in my everyday routine, and therefore didn't need to remove much product build-up. I would probably use it more often in winter, as I get a dry/itchy scalp in the colder months. I imagine this product would be very beneficial for those who experience dandruff.
This scrub made my hair feel a lot cleaner and healthier after use. I'm not usually a fan of anything peppermint scented, but I quite liked the smell of this - it made it seem more natural and fresh.
This product is one of the pricier ones in the range, but I think it is worth it, because you don't use it as often, so won't need to repurchase often.
Not for regular use
I do enjoy the scent of this product, it has a signature Sukin scent which has a spa like quality to it that I enjoy. I have fine hair, but a lot of it, and did find this difficult to spread around my scalp and especially to wash out. I will admit that it could be nice to use more rarely if you want to give yourself a whole spa experience at home, in the bath or shower. I wouldn't use this often though as it feels like it may do more harm than good with regular use for my scalp and hair, potentially a bit too rough. I will be getting my partner to try it out though, as he has extremely short hair and might enjoy the experience a bit more than I did. Ultimately, I don't think this is a product that anyone really needs in their stash.
I don't want no scrubs...
Usually I don't want no scrubs but this scalp scrub is one that CAN get love from me.
I love scalp scrubs. To be completely honest I don't actually know if they do much for my hair or scalp health, but they feel so good and that's enough for me.
As with the rest of this range, this product smells lovely - it has a bit of a minty zing in addition to the light citrus throughout the whole natural balance range.
It does take a while to properly apply this product, given that you have to section out your hair to apply it all over the scalp. However, I really enjoy doing this as a bit of a pamper and head massage once a week.
Clean, but time consuming
I had never heard of a scalp scrub before and I was quite intrigued. The application was quite time consuming, especially for longer hair as you had to section and apply it evenly.
I did find it difficult to work through my hair, however it did wash out easily after i had shampooed. I loved the refreshing peppermint smell and it did leave my hair feeling clean and refreshed.
I would look at using it every few weeks as a refresh, and as a special treat as I don't use too many other products that cause build up.
A little too Minty for me
I loved the idea of a scalp scrub but can’t honestly say I was overly thrilled with this product.
The smell is a strong minty scent and the consistency is of a gritty salt scrub- I personally am not a fan of mint so found the scent a little overwhelming, almost like strong toothpaste smell).
Applying to product is actually quite tedious too, as I thought you would simply be able to massage it onto the base of hair and scalp, but the process of parting and sectioning the hair to apply it in bits took quite some time.
I felt the scrub seemed to really dry out the roots of my hair a little but overall it certainly made my scalp feel somewhat cleaner.
If you’re a fan of mint and have time on your hands, this product might be the one for you.
Great scalp scrub
The idea of a scalp scrub was interesting and a little weird to me but once I used it i was blown away. I tend to have a flaky scalp, not bad enough to be worrisome but just enough to make me feel self conscious.
I used this scrub every couple of days along with the shampoo and conditioner and I did start to see a difference in my scalp, the skin was way less flaky.
I also noticed that my scalp has become less itchy too so I will definitely continue to user the scrub as part of my hair and scalp care routine from now on.
Nicely compliments this range
I do quite like this product, it has nice ingredients and leaves my scalp feeling fresh. It helps with my dandruff, however I'm not 100% sure if it contributes to my coloured hair fading at a faster rate than normal. It was simple and straight forward to use, and I enjoy looking for and using products that, don't include any harsh chemicals. I wasn't sure what to expect as I had not used a scalp scrub before, but I wasn't disappointed. May repurchase from time to time with the conditioner and shampoo from this range.
I really enjoyed this scalp scrub. I have been looking at using one for a period of time and was so grateful I received one to try. This minty fresh scalp scrub was amazing! It was abit of an effort in order to get to the scalp with long, thick hair; however, once I finally got there I feel like it made a difference to my hair washing routine. This product is to be used before you shampoo, which I quite enjoyed. I felt as though it was an effective cleanser. After massaging it in my scalp for a few minutes, it felt invigorating and refreshing.
For someone with shampoo/product build up, I think this would be a great scalp scrub to try.
Scalp felt cleaner and refreshed
This is my first time using a scalp scrub and being someone who likes to use a lot of dry shampoo, I'm wondering why it took me so long to try it. Initially I was worried about how to apply it, but it was easy enough to apply to sections of the scalp and then gently massage it in in circular motions. I would then follow it up with the shampoo and conditioner from this range.
I use a fair bit of product and also have a dry scalp so I was pleased that my scalp did in fact feel cleaner and helped remove some product build up.
Great refresher for an unhappy scalp
This is my favourite of the Sukin Naturals Balance range. I'm a very active person and have noticed after using dry shampoo / exercising a lot of residue can build up - gross. I use this scrub twice a week and have really felt the benefits. It helps remove the dead skin cells and leaves my scalp feeling fresh and healthy. The minty scent is divine and definitely adds to that fresh / menthol feeling. I would definitely purchase this one again. I also found out recently that because scalp scrubs improve the health of your scalp they increase the rate at which your hair grows - so would also highly recommend for anyone who is trying to grow their hair.
