As an owner of three full sized Naked palettes, the Smoky is tied for my number one position (out of all my eyeshadow palettes). It has a great combination of matte to glitter, dark and light shades and the finish is simply gorgeous. I love how easy the shades are to blend and I adore the brush that came with this palette. I have created so many looks with this baby and I keep going back for more. So in love. Four years and counting!
This is another of UD's Naked line eyeshadow palette and comes in a long rectangular plastic case with mirror & dual ended eyeshadow brush inside. This has 12 shades and has a lot of dark smokey shades with a few highlight & shimmer shades. My favorite shades for a smoky eye is the shimmery charcoals because they just pairs so well with a lot of different neutral smokey eye looks. There are mattes, satin and shimmer shades which makes it so versatile and in my opinion the best palette for creating smoky eyes. Now the shades are superb for creating dramatic smokey eye looks so the palette is good for night's out or party makeup. Also because of this I don't use them as often but it's definitely a must have if you are a lover of their Naked collection.
The shadows apply beautifully with minimal fallout. They aren't super creamy or pigmented which I think is a good thing because I can build up the color to my liking as needed.
I love this palette. It's my favourite one from the naked range. I love that it's cool toned, as I don't have other shadows like it.
The formula is great, and the shadows are very opaque. They blend like a dream with minimal fallout.
I'm sad that they've discontinued this palette as it was a strong favourite for me
Okay ladies and gentlemen, if you LOVE a smoky eye (and who doesn’t..) then this eyeshadow palette from Urban Decay is the product for you!
Before we even get to the product, the first positive I have for this review is the company itself.
Urban Decay is against animal cruelty and therefore does not test any product on our furry little friends.
They also offered a number of vegan products throughout their range.
The company also has a very good reputation amongst the makeup community, and after using this palette it is easy to see why.
This Naked palette has every component you’ll need to achieve that perfect smoky eye we’ve all come to love and adore.
The palette includes 12 full size eye shadows that are housed in cute plastic packaging with a smoky brown print.
This packaging includes a dual ended synthetic brush (for applying and blending) as well as a large rectangular mirror that is the perfect size for applying your makeup.
The eye shadows feature nine never-before-seen colours, and can be broken up into three groups; shimmers, satins, and mattes.
There are four in each category and each is honestly as beautiful as the last.
The colours look very similar to the colours depicted in the photos above, but a quick run down of the colours is as follows:
- HIGH: shimmer, champagne;
- DIRTYSWEET: shimmer, taupe;
- RADAR: shimmer, tan;
- ARMOR: shimmer, silver taupe;
- SLANTED: satin, light grey;
- DAGGER: satin, charcoal;
- BLACKMARKET: satin, black;
- SMOLDER: satin, plum;
- PASSWORD: matte, lavender taupe;
- WHISKEY: matte, chocolate brown;
- COMBUST: matte, light pink;
- THIRTEEN: matte, ivory.
I love every colour in this palette, but I find myself using Black Market,Whiskey, Radar, and Dirty Sweet the most.
I think they blend together so nicely and achieve a gorgeous smoky eye.
In regards to performance, I cannot fault these eye shadows.
Every colour is super pigmented and feels amazing on the skin.
The longevity is great, and I use in conjunction with the primer potion that extends the life of the shadows even further.
The colours don’t grab, pull, or crease, so they blend easily onto the skin.
I absolutely adore the Lorac eye shadow palettes, but the Urban Decay eyeshadows I have tried would come in a very close second.
I swore I wouldn’t purchase any more Naked eye shadow palettes as I am a broke uni student, but I am so so weak and a sucker for a smoky eye so here we are haha.
I picked the palette up for around $80 at Mecca Maxima about a year ago.
Although I think that is a little pricey for eye shadow, the quality and longevity of the product well and truly justifies the splurge.
I have neutral-warm undertones in my skin (Estee Lauder 3W1 or 3N1), and find the colours and tones of the palette compliment my skin nicely.
I also have hooded eyes, and find that the colours in this palette work well for me to lowlight/highlight certain parts of my eye.
In my opinion, this palette is the perfect splurge product. It is beautiful, versatile, and long lasting, so I like to think of it as an investment..
I will definitely repurchase this product and recommend it to others in the meantime.
PROS: effective packaging, colour range, matte/metallic/shimmer colours, very high quality (blendable, buildable, long-lasting, crease-free), perfect for both day/night looks.
This is my third Naked palette - well actually my fourth (bought Naked2 twice!). And it has the same great quality I expect from Urban Decay and a good selection of colours - however I wish the blueish tones in the middle of the palette were replaced by another colour. I have blue eyes, so blue shadows work well but I don't use them often enough to warrant having them in an everyday palette. I will add though that the new brush is great, the smaller pointy end is great for smudging. The case is also much sturdier than the original and it actually quite a beautiful, smokey pattern.
