Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Oil

This tinted lip oil from Burt's Bees has been my first foray into lip oils and I did not really know what to expect. I have this lip oil in the shade Whispering Orchid, which as the name implies is a very delicate and gentle pink colour. In fact once applied it looks almost translucent, but provides a beautiful glossy shine for me lips. And it is super hydrating, while remaining non-sticky. It has a beautiful scent, and I love to reapply it throughout the day. The actual packaging takes a bit of getting used to as the actual oil comes out of a small brush applicator, which you then use to essentially paint the oil into your lips.

These remind me of the discontinued Stila Lip Glazes that used to be around. The applicator takes a while to get used to as it's like a paintbrush. The formula is somewhat moisturising, but very sticky so if you're not a fan of tacky formulas I'd skip it. The shades are pretty sheer once on the lips so you can't really tell the difference between a few of them. The scent is subtle and not overpowering. Overall I wouldn't repurchase. I prefer their lipsticks.

Unfortunately I get very dry lips in winter with the air conditioning going 24 hours a day.  I am always interested in trying new Lip Balms so I purchased the Burt's Bees tinted lip oil lip and I am so glad I did as it is fantastic.  As soon as I put it on it feels really nourishing and it stays on reasonably well.  Much to my surprise their is a wide range of colours so it took me a while to decide which color to get so I ended up buying three.  I have since given one of these lip tint's to my sister and she think's it's great too.  Burt's Bees has a good name when it comes to Lip Balms which gives me more confidence in this product.  I would highly recommend.

I am not a fan. The applicator was very hard to get used to since it is stiff when first opened. During cold days the formula freezes inside the tube resulting in an unusable product. It offers great hydration but I would not recommend it if you dislike sticky textures.

The Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Oil is 100% natural and has a great hydrating and nourishing formula that provides a hint of colour, without being sticky or feeling heavy. It has a pleasant, sweet scent that isn’t overpowering and doesn’t linger. The oil lasts for a reasonable amount of time on the lips (around 1-2 hours), before I feel the need to reapply. However, the formula is let down by the packaging. The brown plastic packaging is quite cheap looking, but what I dislike the most is the way you dispense the product- you wind the base until the product comes through the brush tip, however, since you can’t see through the plastic tube you can’t gauge how much to wind, which often results in too much product being dispersed and ultimately wasted. I’m also not a fan of the brush applicator – it is quite flexible and doesn’t allow for a lot of precision while applying. The only good thing about the packaging is that the lid colour corresponds to the colour/scent of the oil. Given the current packaging, I wouldn’t recommend.

I’m a bit of a lip product junkie and was pleasantly surprised when I came across Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Oil in Misted Plum. I usually go for more coral colours but the plum shade was very flattering on my pale skin. When it first comes out, it looks really dark but goes on as a lovely, muted plum colour. Remember, this is a lip oil, not a lipstick, so the colour isn’t intense but more of tint. What really surprised me was how moisturising the lip oil was. I’m used to layering lip products with lip balms to help with dryness but there was no need with this lip oil – my lips felt plump and hydrated. You need to re-apply the lip oil every hour or two to maintain the colour (again, not a lipstick) but when it wears off it doesn’t leave any weird residue like other products. Now for the bad. I found the packaging really hard to use!It’s a click and twist pen and I dutifully gave it a couple of clicks and waited. Nothing. I clicked again and still nothing. Eventually, numerous clicks later and lengthy waits in between, a whole heap of oil came out and I had to wipe most of it away which is a complete waste. Perhaps I wasn’t using it correctly but I found it very user unfriendly. I love the product and would like to buy more colours but the only thing holding me back would be the packaging. Pros: Very flattering, subtle colour Glossy without being sticky Contains nourishing ingredients for long lasting hydration Cons: Needs to be reapplied regularly as it’s not a lipstick Can’t quite get the hang of the click and twist packaging 

I loved this tint oil to the moon and back! It is such a super moisturising product and my lips feel and look so smooth and plump after I've worn it all day - and this is saying a lot as I have quite dry lips! The tint was just enough to give me a 'pick me up' on my face, but not enough that I couldn't apply it without a mirror. The packaging is also really convenient and isn't messy at all. I will say that it is more of a light gloss than an oil though.

I was introduced to this product while in the US on holiday. It received a high rating in the 2017 Redbook Best Beauty Buy list.  Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Oil leaves your lips silky smooth for hours. It is easy to use and store and has a good selection of lovely light tint colours. I think it is excellent value for money and I would buy the product again. 

I love Burt’s Bees products, but this lip oil is so lightly pigmented that it barely gives any colour at all.  The lip brush is very stiff at first but it does soften over time, and I do find that this works pretty well with a matt colour that is drying, so you use this effectively as a very lightly tinted top coat.  The oil itself is hydrating, and works fine to keep lips soft, but I find the pigmentation is so pale that I may as well stick with clear gloss.

I love lip oils because they are just hydrating for my dry and parched lips. I always use lip balm underneath lip products to keep my lips moisturised because I don't like having dry, wrinkly and crusty lips. I got the color 613 Whispering Orchid, which is a muted purple-ish pink. Even though it is tinted, the color is very light and on my pigmented lips, almost hard to see. However, I love sheer lipstick so I am happy that it gives me a very light tint of color just to make my lips look healthier. The oil is a rather thick creamy and slightly sticky, moisturising consistency. It feels comfortable and light to wear, giving a lovely shine to the lips. It wasn't moisturising enough for my dry lips but does not dry it out either. It comes in a pen packaging, where you twist the end of the pen to dispense the product then apply it on your lips with the brush it comes with. For me, I don't really like the packaging. Even though the brush makes it convenient to apply the lip oil, I have to wipe the brush clean before putting the cap back on, otherwise, the lip product will leak onto the cap and make a mess. Although, I might have gotten a defective product because the product still leaks into the cap even when I wiped it clean before capping it. I do love Burt's Bees products because their lip balms have helped my lips so much, especially when I have ezcema and during the colder months. This product, however, did not manage to meet the high expectations that I had for it. I still use it but I do wish they would stop leaking out.

This product feels great on the lips and the colours are great, the only issue I had was that after using it the surface of my lips felt really hard and when I stopped wearing the lip oil my lips cracked and started peeling. I used the caramel colour and it was gorgeous to wear, I also really enjoyed the applicator although when I'm the cold weather where I live the product wouldn't come out sometimes
