Selena Gomez finally announced the launch date for Rare Beauty

Selena Gomez Launches Her Rare Beauty Range

“It’s not just going to be a brand, it’s going to be a lifestyle”

Beauty Crew / September 01 2020

When superstar singer Selena Gomez announced the launch of her new beauty brand, Rare Beauty, back in February 2020, we were beyond excited.

Since then, the 28-year-old has teased us with product hints and created the Rare Impact Fund, cementing the brand's intentions of improving mental health. And we have a date.

Gomez announced the news that Rare Beauty will be launching on September 3rd, 2020, at Sephora via Instagram Stories on the Rare Beauty account.

And, while we wait with bated breath to hear the word 'globally', there's still no solid indication as to whether Rare Beauty will be launching into all Sephora stores AKA Australia.

And now, just mere days before the official launch date, Gomez has given us a glimpse at the full collection, offering fans the opportunity to get a close look at all the products via the Sephora US website. And from what we’re seeing already, we are fully on board.

Firstly, there’s nothing priced over $30 USD (that’s about $40 Australian dollary-doos just in case you were wondering)!

Secondly, the product offering is huge.   Base is sorted with the Liquid Touch Weightless Foundation and Brightening Concealer – ready to apply with the brand’s Foundation Brush or Multi-Tasking Makeup Sponge and Concealer Brush, of course.

There’s also an Always An Optimist Illuminating Primer,  4-in-1 Prime & Set Mist and the Blot & Glow Touch Up Kit for those who like a complexion that doesn’t crack, (and yes, before you ask, there are blotting refills and powder puffs available for purchase too).

Moving through to colour and detail, and there’s a Soft Pinch Liquid Blush and Positive Light Liquid Luminizer for  next-level dewy cheeks, and for brows and lids, the Brow Harmony Pencil & Gel and Perfect Strokes Matte Liquid Liner are here to define. The affordable range also offers a creamy lip balm and matte cream lipstick in a range of shades. Delish.

Gomez has been vocal about the meaning behind the name ‘Rare’, explaining how she wants people to know and learn that there is 'so much beauty in imperfection'.

From the outset, Gomez has said, “I wanted to make a brand where you feel comfortable. I think people feel the pressure – I know I do – where you feel like you need to look like everyone else or should get this because that’s what everyone else gets."

“Sometimes that can feel a bit isolating or you might feel like ‘I can’t achieve that look.’ I’m very lucky to have worked with some of the greatest makeup artists in the world and being able to create my own and make it exactly what I want."

“I want it to be something you guys love. It’s not just going to be a brand, it’s going to be a lifestyle.”

Although the product line-up hasn’t yet been revealed, we think it's safe to assume the stunning raspberry lip colour Gomez was wearing during her most recent announcement is from the collection.

When she filed for trademarks in beauty categories back in 2019, this included fragrances, cosmetics, skin-care preparations, hair-care preparations, soaps, moisturisers and essential oils – but the majority of product hints have been makeup.

Here's hoping we get a tutorial from Gomez herself as the launch date gets closer.
