The Review Crew® Report: Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

What our reviewers had to say about the face wash

Beauty Crew Beauty Editor / May 25 2017

The Review Crew® panel

Beauty Crew sent Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser, a soap-free and pH-balanced face wash, to a panel of women aged between 25 and 45 who have dry, sensitive or breakout-prone skin.

What they loved

How hydrating the formula was: Many reviewers found that the cleanser left their face feeling moisturised, soft and clean after using it.

How the product could be used in different ways: The Review Crew® panel especially loved how the product could be used in or out of the shower to remove makeup and the like.

How gentle the product was: The testers were impressed with how well the product worked on all skin types, especially those prone to flare-ups, eczema, rosacea and dermatitis. Some also mentioned the formula did not sting their eyes, which was a plus for them.

This may not be for you if…

You like your cleanser to remove heavy makeup: While testers did commend its gentle formula, some members did find that the cleanser didn’t always work to remove all makeup, especially on days when more was worn. Those who wore minimal makeup found the cleanser sufficient in removing it.

The verdict

I love this product! I have had reactions to cleansers in the past from more expensive supposedly 'better' companies but always come back to Cetaphil because it is gentle on my skin.

My skin is prone to dryness at the very least and can sometimes flare up with dermatitis if I am not vigilant with keeping it moisturised. This cleanser is absolutely fantastic for cleansing without taking away moisture.

Great for eczema sufferers like myself, I have been using this product for years. It was first recommended to me by my dermatologist, so definitely a big plus from me!
