Lucy Hale posts selfie with blemishes

She struggles with pimples just like the rest of us

Lucy Hale’s skin is goddamn goals and while we would be fooled into thinking the star has never had a bad skin day in her life, she’s done us all a solid and proved that even she isn’t immune to pimples.

*Collective sigh of relief*.

The former Pretty Little Liars actress recently posted a snap on her Instagram Stories, showing off her not-so-glamorous pimple-fighting efforts. Covered in dabs of spot cream, she captioned the pic, “When your skin is PI**ED off at u”.

Oh, the feels.

While she didn’t confirm what pimple cream was in action here, she’s actually dished out her whole 15-step skin care routine before – so we know she seriously knows her stuff. (Hint: A good chunk of them are focused on cleansing).

So, what should you do when annoying little suckers rear their ugly heads?

First things first, we would recommend NOT picking or touching your breakouts - that means resisting the urge to squeeze! It’s hard, but it’s so worth it (read: less chance of infection or scarring).

After cleaning the area to remove any dirt or bacteria (we would recommend using a cleanser that contains salicylic acid, such as Medik8 Beta Cleanse Exfoliating Foaming Cleanser), reduce swelling and redness by holding an ice pack on the breakout for about a minute.

Next, you want to work on soothing and reducing the size of that bad boy, so opt for a bacteria-fighting goodie such as Mario Badescu Drying Lotion, Dermalogica Breakout Control or Origins Super Spot Remover.

Then, give your acne-fighting formulas time to work their magic – and don’t stress over your spots. Remember, even Lucy Hale gets pimples from time to time.

Now you’ve got the best pimple-fighting routine down pat, here’s the best way to hide them.

Do use spot treatments to disappear your breakout? Have you tried any of the ones above before? Let us know in the comment section below.
